Post Game: 1-0

This was a difficult road trip. USD had a 15 game home opener streak. They always play well in that crappy dome. Our offense man handled them. I know the run game is a ? Still but I think we have to realize their game plan. They were heavy loading the read side of the line with 3 guys and then had a spy on sneed on the read on the other. They brought 5/6 guys most the game. The coaches did a great job to not force what wasn’t there. They really wanted to stop sneed from running. Okay but they couldn’t stop JLM from running. We beat them by taking what they gave us. Good solid win that was Bigger than the score shows. Easily left 14-21 more off with the missed FG, int in the end zone, kneel inside the 20 and we gave them a score on a drive from a catch that was not a catch. Great to see this team finish. Big game next week under the lights.

I was questioning Hauck's decision to run the clock out inside the red zone when we clearly could have scored a touchdown or field goal. It was a strong gesture of class and sportsmanship against a team and coaching staff that was soundly beat down. Would another score matter or does respect for the other team and coaches matter more? Good on ya Bobby...

Truth. I have despised the Iowa Hawkeyes since September 2, 2006 for demonstrating precisely the opposite.

Just saw where the Griz ran the last 6:15 off of the clock at the end of the game. When is the last time we did that to finish out a game?

I rewatched the game, and THIS is the drive that stood out. Right at the beginning of the quarter I was griping that the team had no killer instinct. Then they proceeded to run the clock out with a game killing drive. Best thing they did all game as far as I’m concerned. Closing games was their Achilles heel last year.

How could you have even thought that this team had no killer instinct. There is absolutely nothing in this game that could have legitimately caused someone to think that, in my view.

Plus our KO return called back for penalty. Did anyone get a good look at the penalty?

I don't remember a return called back. I could be wrong though. There was about a 25-30 yard TD pass to JLM that was called back due to holding on the OL. If I remember the play correct, it was a legit call

Must have dreamed it or mixed with another game. My bad. Yes, I recall the holding on the JLM TD. Thx.

Another thing I liked about the game was a reminder of many times in the past with Hauck teams.
Griz scored right before the half on a field goal and then scored on their 1st possession of the 2nd half to add a nice cushion. (10 points) I can remember many of Bobby's games in the past where that exact thing happened and it was hard for the opposing team to overcome.

Lots to like about the game yesterday.

I read somewhere today that the Griz had the ball for like (don't quote me exactly) 12-13 minutes of the 4th quarter. Ball control doesn't always have to be running to take time off the clock. Lots of short passes for 5-8 yards. Pretty encouraging. Big test this weekend, will help show us where the team is at.

Go Griz!!

They scored.
We scored twice.
They scored.
We scored twice.
They scored.
We scored (and would have scored twice had we not gotten intercepted in the end zone and/or kneeled down to end the game)

That’s a recipe for success...score twice for every once the opponent scores.

And maybe it was just me, but it seemed like I saw 3-4 times defensive players tripping over painted lines or logos...definitely saw Lewis do it once, and then Nash did it in the end zone....weird.

Super excited about this win. That was a very good South Dakota team the griz beat on the road. I did predict a win but I was really worried about this one. I am now convinced that a 10 win season is really likely.

I/O of all the posts on here I tend to like this one. The hype had to be proved to you and it appears it was. I am in. Go Griz! FTC 24/7/365

First rule of return to dominance, no injuries.

True. Little known fact: UNDSU hasn't had a single player miss time due to injury during their run of dominance.

Are you talking major injury? Thats practically impossible at any level for a team to not have anything...

My wife's comment was that she was glad to see we didn't try to run the ball up the gut on first down like we used to do.

We don't have DOLA yet - but we do have win 1 :thumb:

Holy cow, the all new, humbled, more mellow, matured Bobby Hauck can still be a dick to the press can't he.
