Position Breakdown: WR

After looking at this breakdown it's hard for me imagine Jed Nagler not being in the mix for a starting job. He is going to be special .

A couple of the coaches have speculated that Akem is the most game-ready of any of the incoming freshman. Obviously, that means nothing till they hit the field and show what they can do. Just giving you some perspective from the staff.

This whole incoming crop of WR's is insane. Every time I try to pick 1 or 2 that stick out, I can't find one that seems more promising than the next. Huge talent coming in at WR.

Having a few drinks today with some rabid Griz fans and most of those folks felt we should be getting ready for Stitt's replacement because after two more years he will be moving on to a much higher level.
Add to that BS along with Haslam getting Fullerton's job I had to move on early.
WR question? I knew more last week.
What say you bigdog?

Who is the dark horse in this group that is going to step up and have a surprising season?
I'm going to put my money on Bingham. I like his size and his hands. Throw in the intangibles that he got from dad and I'm looking for him to have the breakout season.

:thumb:
Not too sure I'd consider him a dark horse since he was our scout team player of the year last year. He must've shown something more then the other true Fr that weren't mending themselves.
I'd bet Lyons. Not many people expecting much of him cus if his size but if Gus (many overthrows towards Naccarato last year) or who ever takes over can get him the ball, I'd bet on big things from him.

True, but as BW rightly points out, Bingham is probably going to be sitting watching Josh Horner. If Josh has the season we hope and expect, the Bingham having a breakout season would have to be considered a dark horse simply because he should be riding the pine. Thats my two cents anyway.

I honestly think Bob wants to stay put until Sam graduates HS. Not saying big bucks won't change that but I know he really hates moving his kids around. That's why he was in Golden for 15 yrs.

I see where your going. Not to be too nit picky though but since Bingham is behind Horner, and if Horner has the season were hoping for from him, how is Bingham going to have a breakout season, riding the pine? Unless Lyons don't cut it and having two H rec in the line up is more beneficial. I could see that.

I have been told, of the new WR class, they feel Nagler is the most prepared to play D1 because of his mix of strength, size, and speed. I think Akem could also, but most everyone else needs a year or two in the weight room. That said, I will be very surprised if they all don't RS.

Yeah.....I know they want to redshirt everybody, but I think during fall camp there will be some serious conversations about guys like Nagler and Sammy Akem being ready to play right away. I trust that Stitt will play true freshman if he knows they are the best we have. He wants to be an elite team next year. You have to have all missiles firing to do that.

Oh, and I think Gavin Crow HAS to be in the mix to play right away at safety. That kid is the best recruit on the books IMO

Ecco a voi, U.

I simply told U that my college aged daughter was home, so I was doing "family"stuff, that I was worried about the wide receivers because of how young & inexperienced they are and that I hoped he got home safely. After saluting him. Not everyone knows this but U, as in "what's a matta for you" is Italian, @ least within his loins. And with his money & connections, there is no reason to worry. Xcept that a couple of years back, they started selling alcohol in grocery stores in BC. Dam dangerous is you ask me. Hope this helped.

Ding ding, chicken wing! We have a winner. Stitt isn't moving anytime soon!

Ya'all, I did NOT consider the folks I was drinking with had any solid factual evidence concerning Stitt moving!

I was simply attempting to point out the silly items that our Griz fans visit about and making sure that not only do we have a boat load of Griz nuts on E-griz bull blabbing but the fact remains many Griz are out in public spreading the Griz bull!

No I do not think Stitt will be moving on soon. Tend to agree w/Hammer. Stitt is really into family and not the dollar. He likes the life he has righ now. I do think he is surpised by the amount of praise and discord that comes with his job.

And we have so many new receivers on board I am not dumb enough to try guessing the top guns. One can just about make a case that we will have a very good collection and I can't wait for spring practice and the begining of fall!

So it sounds like the rumor about Holden moving to linebacker was incorrect?
Not a rumor at all...Holden has already made the transition to LB.
I think that's a smart move, after looking at the WRs we pulled in this recruiting class. Holden is built to be a hell of an OLB. Long, has WR speed, nasty hitter, tough mentality, I like it.

I love that Holden is going to play linebacker. He is big, physical and is athletic with ball skills. All BSC'er at linebacker, no doubt about it. Look at the roster too, he is more needed on D than on O.

His 12 second one hundred times will have him doing well at linebacker.
