Portal and Roster Limits

He's the recruiting coordinator and the Griz are getting out recruited by MSU, USD, UC Davis, NDSU, SDSU, and a couple others. Griz should be pulling in a lot more talent. Who is to blame? The last time the griz truly had great all around talent was 2011. Something needs to change with the recruiting that much is obvious.
TBH, replacing Green may be more of a net negative. I don't think you are really looking at the situation.

If you truly think that recruiting has been a weak point for us, I think it's perfectly reasonable to direct criticism at the only guy who's been our recruiting coordinator for the last 12 seasons.
But I thought our problem was player development this whole time. Now we’re giving the coaches a pass on that and just saying they can’t work with the crappy recruits we’re bringing in?

Pretty sure both of those things can be true simultaneously.

1. Griz coaches are not signing the best possible players.
2. Griz coaches are not adequately developing the signed players.

I don't have a dog in this fight...and personally don't think either is entirely true...

It’s definitely a possibility and I’m certainly no judge of talent, especially from highlight reels. We generally seem to be excited about some of the kids we bring in though. I think the bigger concern might be the recruiting battles we’re losing that we didn’t use to lose before because of the other teams around us elevating themselves with better coaching.

Look, I love Justin Green but, all around recruiting is lacking.
I see Green is listed as the “Recruting coordinator” while Keaton Johnson is listed as “Director of Recruiting”….whats the major difference between the two roles?

I am not convinced that Griz are losing many recruiting battles. When I’m asking questions, they are saying they are getting the guys they want. And they aren’t making all the offers that people and “recruits” claim.

This is a recruiting coordinator problem. Justin Green is good at coaching running backs and finding talented running backs but, otherwise not so well. Maybe time for a change.

What about the two they lost to Tech and Carroll? Are they made up?

With all due respect, do you expect them to tell you that they’re losing on recruits? I mean, cmon. Of course they’re going to tell a random booster they’re getting who they want.

From what I understand, Keaton is the on-the-ground guy. He corresponds with recruits, shows them around campus, introduces them to players, etc. It's the more day-to-day stuff directly with recruits. The coaches also contact recruits, but I believe Keaton is the guy that they interface with the most.

Green takes care of the higher-level recruiting, like tracking players, keeping the "big board", determining the overall strategy and needs of recruiting at any given time, and is responsible for compliance, grades, etc, although I'm sure there is some overlap in contacting, meeting, and trying to woo recruits.

I am not a random booster. And I’m good enough friends with some that they aren’t going to lie to me. Some of my info comes from friends who are coaches in MT,
Including 2 at AA level. Do you really get your info from random yahoos on the internet?

Lol okay. They aren’t losing any recruiting battles, they have the best coaching staff in the conference, and somehow managed to lose 5 games. Something isn’t quite adding up, but what do I know? I’m just some dumb random with no connections.

this is a good breakdown of the new scholarship limit & possible effects.
Looks like legalized open field chicanery. Booster $ doing all the talking. We're back to the good 'ol days of free cars and broads. Just ask Tommy, how is that Ford truck is running these days? (Yes, I know, it's an Explorer!!!)

No team wins every recruiting battles. So is it your view that last year the Cats were losing out in recruiting and had bad coaching? UM had a better season this year than Cats did last year.

What you are missing is knowledge of the game of football and knowledge of the Griz football program.
