Bs, if you've been paying attention at all to what is happening in the landscape of college football you'd see what most have for a while. FCS teams that take it seriously are looking to get the hell out.

The big boys in the FBS level football is clearly keeping an eye on teams at the FCS level, why do you think these teams like NDSU and Sacramento State were so driven to do whatever it took to get the hell out of the FCS?...

I know for a fact that UND is in talks with two FBS conferences right now and neither is the MAC or MWC.. figure it out.. and Illinois State is getting ready to bolt as well

Did you really just type "teams like NDSU and Scrote State" with a straight face? Lmao. The only thing that comp set has in common is the "state" in the name.

The MAC and/or the MWC have a less than 50% chance of existing in 5 years. NO ONE knows how the P4/G-whatever thing is gonna shake out. NDSU might be on the right side of that shift and have a chance to land at the bottom of whatever the Big 12 is at that point. Maybe. Scrote State will be a performing arts junior high with a ballet program where its football program used to be.

Its a calculated risk for NDSU. Its the end of the road for Scrote.

And "Dr." Wood will be driving for doordash.

i think it was a no brainer for NDSU to move up. They had major FCS fatigue as a fan base and were only filling up the Fargo dome half full for games. They had literallly nothing left to prove in FCS after being so dominant. Their fund raising and ability to generate $ wa only going to decrease if they stayed. Being able to go to MW as a football only was the dream scenario for them. Perfect timing and perfect invite.

My point on Sac St is that it’s literally none of that. They haven’t been dominant in FCS. They don’t have fan fatigue, they barely have fans. They lose millions of $ each year from football alone and have to be subsidized heavily my the university and school fees. They have no stadium and are going to sink 200M into one to make it better.

Then the deal they agreed to to join the MAC is insane. At this point, I’m wondering if they have a board of levelheaded people who honestly could sign off on it. 23M to join, no rev sharing or tv revenues, and they pay for all to travel to Sac for games. They weren’t making dollars on football to begin with and now they’re going to try to pull this off?

I’m just saying, I don’t think this is going to go very well for them at all.

I hope one day both the cats and Griz move up, but I hope they do it responsibly and not desperately. They will go together. That is the only way it will ever happen.

Like I said earlier though, how can you complain that you have to go to Montana twice every three years, but now rationalize traveling to all those places for weeknight games with no one in the stands is a much better deal? We pay $18M, forgo TV money for 5 years and pay travel subsidies for 4 games (which we would have to pay via game guarantees as an independent anyways). The point is, whenever you guys grow a ball sac and are ready to move up from JV then get ready to open up the check book, the market has been set.

Also don't forget to allocate some money for the additional sport programs, facilities, and scholarships needed to meet the FBS minimums, which you currently don't meet.

You know, you've been there through it. 4-21 vs. Montana. How this changes so dramatically taking on the financial pressure and playing midwestern teams in midweek games escapes the outside world. The point is no matter how successful a JV program is, it's going to cost a hefty entrance fee to join FBS. Ironically enough you perfectly laid out why the "JV" term was used by Dr. Wood. Dr. Wood's use of it during the Reddit AMA was taken out of context; he was trying to articulate how the Sacramento area views the lower subdivision. Why would there be significant attention and investment into something viewed as JV? We weren't ever going to see significant corporate contributions and casual fan engagement when competing head to head with the Kings and Bay Area professional sports. Anyone that has ever lived in the Sacramento area understands this. That JV perception coupled with being in an un-tapped FBS market was a large driver in his move to go all in on getting an FBS invite.
