Poll Guesses (Nov 3)

With two teams in the top-10 losing to lower-ranked opponents, we can expect some changes there. Towson lost a close game to #21 Delaware, but it was a home loss. I expect them to drop the usual five or six spots. McNeese also lost at home, but they got blown out (41-7), so I figure them to drop at least six spots. Of course, if they dropped one more, that would allow the Griz to move back into the top-10 (barely) ... but I do not see that happening.

The real blood bath came from #15 on down, with five of the eleven teams losing. Samford kept it close but ended up losing to a wretched Citadel (3-6) team, so they should drop a lot. Central Arkansas also lost a close game to a weak opponent, Northwestern State (4-5), so they too will be hurt. I have them hanging on, but that 5-4 record could take them out of the top-25.

Villanova and New Hampshire lost to CAA teams that are now 6-3, so I’m figuring the winners (JMU and W&M) will take their places in the top-25. Tennessee State still has a nice-looking record, but they got crushed, 44-0, and have now lost two in a row. But they could hang on, with Central Arkansas dropping out.

So here goes:
Poll Guess, Team (Record), [Current Rank]
1. NDSU (8-0) [1]
2. Eastern Illinois (8-1) [2]
3. EWU (7-2) [3]
4. Montana State (7-2) [5]
5. Coastal Carolina (9-0) [6]
6. Sam Houston State (7-2) [8]
7. Fordham (9-0) [9]
8. Maine (8-1) [10]
9. Youngstown State (8-1) [11]
10. McNeese State (7-2) [4]
11. Montana (7-2) [12]
12. Towson (8-2) [7]
13. Bethune-Cookman (8-1) [13]
14. Northern Arizona (7-2) [14]
15. Wofford (5-3) [17]
16. Delaware (7-2) [21]
17. South Dakota State (5-4) [19]
18. Lehigh (6-2) [22]
19. James Madison (6-3) [NR]
20. SE Louisiana (7-2) [25]
21. Charleston Southern (9-1) [24]
22. Samford (6-3) [15]
23. William & Mary (6-3) [NR]
24. Chattanooga (7-2) [NR]
25. Central Arkansas (5-4) [18]

NR Villanova (4-5) [20]
NR New Hampshire (4-4) [16]
NR Tennessee State (7-3) [23]

SE Louisiana will jump up more with the dominating nature of their (on the road) win.

Maine will climb higher.
Towson may not fall that far.
In both cases, the cream of the CAA always deserves to be near the top of the polls. ;)

Though for the most part your poll is a good guess. :ugeek:

SE Louisiana should move higher than I show ... just not sure the pollsters will see it that way.
Maine should (that word, again) climb higher. However, it should have jumped over at least Fordham and its powder-puff schedule before this ... but it hasn't.
I only dropped Towson 5 spots, because it was a close loss. That's fairly typical after a close loss to a ranked team. But you could be right.

As already mentioned SE Louisiana should be higher. No idea how South Dakota State is still that high...

I have no clue on SDSU. They keep hanging around even though they are 2-4 in their last six games, and had to go into overtime to beat Northern Iowa (which has now lost five straight). Maybe (but only maybe) the pollsters will finally wake up and hammer them. (That's another guess I would not at all mind getting wrong. :) )

Not sure how tough UNI was when SDSU played them, but apparently UNI has had so many injuries, some of their fans don't even know who is playing, as they are that far down on the depth chart. My point being that I think UNI was still playing decent ball when SDSU beat them.
