Polee to visit missoula!

I lived in Butte for a while. I lived in Great Falls for a while. I received a worse vibe at bars in Great Falls than in Butte. Therefore, I eventually quit going to bars in GF. Not to say all of the GF bars were negative and that everyone I met in Great Falls wasn't friendly but it was just a general feeling I got while there. I'm unassuming but nobody ever talked shit to me in Butte.

I'm sure people could list hundreds of reasons why Butte deserves shit talk but all of this like vs. dislike stuff is nothing but subjective.

I will agree with Hammer though. It seemed normal and acceptable when I was in MT for people to talk smack about Butte when it came up in conversation after they found out I had lived there. Butte is no different than any other mining town I've lived in that if someone flaps their gums for no real reason, they'll get a fist as a greeting. Mining towns I've been to in Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona all seem to have that same vibe. I've been in nearly every bar in uptown Butte and have never had trouble with anyone. But as I walked into Maloneys, The Cavalier Lounge, Silver Dollar, The Vu or whatever bar that night brought I was polite and friendly to begin with. No tough guy, macho crap. No chip on my shoulder. No air of superiority. Never a problem...not once. I'm not a complete Butte-apologist as it has it's troubles and eccentricities but it's all about the manner in which one holds themselves. Civility will be returned if given in most cases.

Very good....65 years has taught me that the poverty many of us knew in Butte has given us a class and character and a certain swagger that comes from having seen much that most don't and that we have embraced within ourselves...Butte and Anaconda and Helena people know what we mean......

A city as large and diverse as LA has a little something for everyone. For example, the number of republicans in LA is over 3 times the entire population of Montana. Not all LA residents are gay illegal immigrants and not all Montana residents are conservative wing nut meth addicts driving down the highway in a pickup with a beer in hand.
A Republican in LA? where can I see that? Pasadena is close but it isn't LA...

Wow Dwayne Polee to this. Shocking. But this is egriz.

I don't understand the whole Butte thing, never have. I hated playing sports against Butte kids, not because they were bush, because they played like their life depended on it. There was definately an edge Butte kids had. Heck and that was only a little more than a decade ago.

Well I would say this, from a historical standpoint, love Butte. Butte ooozes history. Arsenic laden water aside, Butte IS montana history.

Wingnuts are bad. But why does this liberal/conservative debate always end up like this.

Polee is a great ball player, but seriously is the guy the best thing since sliced bread? Do we have to recruit him? I don't know there isn't a constitutional law about it. Why waste time on anyone who isn't going to give us the time of day. Just work on getting Jamar in a Griz uni and I would be perfectly happy. Anything above that is pure icing baby.

Lastly this the most excited I have seen this board at this time of the year in some time. Lets hope this translates to bodys in seats next year. I feel some mojo flowing here.

You will never ever have a problem in most Butte bars if you don't cop an attitude and just want to have a few beers and conversation. In fact you will probably have beers that people bought for you stacked up on the bar.

IF you cop an attitude, act like a tough guy and most importantly say something negative about Butte you WILL find out just how tough you are in short order. Thats all I was saying in my post, bash it all you want on the internet but I'll bet all these Butte bashers would have their hats in their hands in Jims bar on a friday night. If they didn't, like I said, they would find out quickly just how tough or not so tough they are.
