Playoff predictions

I’d take that bracket as is right now. If the seeds were exactly like that though there is no way they wouldn’t send UND to Missoula for the first round matchup.

Hopeful we can work ourselves into a top 8 seed but not overly optimistic. We really needed to not give that game to Weber. I’m not sure beating the Aggies and losing to the cats would do it if we won the other 3. If we ran the table a number 4 would be possible, but also unlikely given how weak some of the schedules are of teams ranked ahead of us.

Understanding that week to week this will always change, I do enjoy seeing them and having another fun talking point for Griz foorball

I'd love to get that 5 see instead of Mercer :)

People are freaking out over the defense. The performances thus far warrants a lot of criticism, which would include special teams. Still, there is a bye week and a couple of garbage games that should help with getting things corrected. Hauck’s teams always get better as the season progresses. They just do. Can this team pull it together or do they even have the talent on defense to beat UC Davis and the scats? Winning in Bozeman is going to be tough. Bozeman is starting to pile up some injuries, so who knows.

Great point…..MSU has been able to get through the first half of their season despite several injuries due to playing very low competition up until Idaho. Those injuries will start to take a toll moving forward.

Given that exact playoff field, I think it would be more likely Idaho would host UND and Montana would host SFA because regionality would still be considered as well as the clause that the committee tries to avoid repeat matchups in the first round.

Regionality goes out the window if it isn't within bus ride distance. Once in the air, there is no difference.

Especially when you look at what's coming up. Portland State has always played the cats tough, but they should be ok in that one. They've always struggled at Eastern and they claim their secondary is their weakness, and then at Davis the week before the Brawl will be a tough game. They're gonna start getting tested in the coming weeks.

Quite honestly, I will be surprised if the Cats don't go into the brawl undefeated.

Just for fun since I think things will definitely change but if that were the field of seeds and assuming no upsets, Montana's potential path would be:

-hosting an unseeded team in the 1st round
-going to #4 Mercer (Atlanta area) in the 2nd round
-going to #5 Villanova (Philadelphia area) in quarterfinals
-going to #1 Bozeman in semis
-meeting #2 NDSU in Frisco

During Hauck 2.0, the only time this has been the case was last year, and it's hard to argue against the change at quarterback was the reason.

Like UOFMMAN said, we control our own destiny. Here is the remaining schedules for Montana, UC Davis, and Montana State:

MONTANA
@ Northern Colorado (1-6)
@ Cal Poly (2-4)
vs #6 UC Davis (6-1)
vs Portland State (1-5)
@ #3 Montana State (7-0)

UC DAVIS
@ Eastern Washington (2-4)
vs Northern Colorado (1-6)
@ #11 Montana (5-2)
vs #3 Montana State (7-0)
@ Sacramento State (2-4)

MONTANA STATE
@ Portland State (1-5)
@ Eastern Washington (2-4)
vs Sacramento State (2-4)
@ #6 UC Davis (6-1)
vs #11 Montana (5-2)

Northern Colorado and Cal Poly both should be wins (never guaranteed as Weber State found out).

Then we'll get UC Davis who will likely be 8-1 and probably a Top 5 team after the loser of the NDSU/SDSU game this weekend. Add to the fact that this game is a night game, in the cold, with an extremely hungry and rowdy crowd, that'll be a tough game for Davis to win from the environment alone. Advantage is ours, but we need the whole team to show up to beat Davis.

The following week after we play Davis, the Bobcats go to Davis. If Davis loses to the Griz, I can see them amped up to avenge the loss and try to take it to the Cats. This will be an extremely difficult game for the Cats right before Cat/Griz.

That then leads up to the Brawl the following weekend. If the Griz can go 4-0 heading into the Brawl, it should set up nicely for a top 4 seed for whoever wins that game.

Slow down, Myron.

Let's worry about UNC after the bye. NOTHING is guaranteed with this team. lol
