SMH, ok Rob, many of us, who have been following the FCS since it was still 1AA, myself since 1991, will respectfully disagree with what you're saying. This isn't the BCS. That's what you're trying to make it sound like. HUMANS do the work when doing the seeding, picking the at-large bids, and so on. And especially one thing you keep seeming to ignore in your four-team scenario is the Griz are ranked ahead of NAU in BOTH POLLS and the Sagarin. But, at the end of the day, this is all speculation. No one knows yet if the Griz will be 10-2, 9-3 or 8-4 or even 7-5. So we'll ALL just have to wait and see.

Also, It might interest you to know that Griz have been the No. 1 seed in the playoffs THREE times when they were NOT ranked No. 1 in either the TSN or Coaches Poll the day the playoff pairings were announced. The Griz have also been the No. 1 seed in the playoffs with LOSSES before, and have been a top 4 seed in two different seasons in which they had TWO losses on their resume. Again, Humans do the majority of work at this level.

Unfortunately, I graduated in 1983 and have been following Montana football since high school. There is now a process, SRS, much like the BCS. So no matter what has happened in the past really doesnt have anything to do with the process now.

You are correct polls do not matter, but now the human affect is diminished also. Polls are for fans to complain about. Look at the TSN poll they do not take the top 8 and give them seeds, they aren't even on the same page.

Griz Might get a seed I'd EWU loses to cal poly and MSU. MSU loses to Griz and SUU. NAU loses to UNC and SUU.

There is your seed.

Is the SRS a lock? In other words, does the #1 SRS team get the #1 seed, etc., etc.? Because if not, your argument holds no water.

Great so now that you graced us with all that pent up knowledge and that amazing timelined wit why not jump in that white Lexus and drive your Mariani poster around the parking lot and shout from the top of your lungs "I really am a Griz Fan."

Why do you hate knowledge and reality?

Are you going to USD, or maybe Fargo when the Griz win the first round game?

If, by some chance, the Griz win out, there's no WAY they are on the road in the 2nd round. Take that to the bank.

I will agree unless The Griz second game is against the Bison, then they will be on the road. Guaranteed.

NAU has the easiest schedule by far to end the season. I don't see how they don't win out so they should finish with 1 conference loss. Will be interesting

I'll take you to the bank, Senator Trent. And, yes, I will continue to use this reference.

Also, this new bsc is complete horse shit...Griz and scats have to deal with two teams fighting for playoff spots and position that don't even play each other. Another loss for nau or ewu is a big deal right now.

Also, ewu and scats get und as a conf. game while um doesn't. Scats get unc while griz get cal poly...

It's just fucking weird and it makes for a joke of a conference...

Is there another conference where everybody doesn't play everybody, and there are not two divisions, and there is no conference championship game? Serious question.

I know enough to see an individual who feels entitled to belittle others and does it over and over thru life. You are the type of person who would remember a birthday present you received while a child was opening theirs. The fact is you do it over and over which leads to that sense of entitlement. The true definition of asshole and rob you win the award. That's the reality.....you are an asshole.

I agree, and the cats and eagles both have tough schedules.

I read the eagles by 6 with a 63% chance of winning. The Griz by 6 with a 76% chance of winning. I agree on the EWU MSU game, almost a toss up. I think the Griz will win by more. The interesting thing this weekend is getting to see how the Griz compare to the MVC. A loss to USD will hurt the Griz more than a loss to EWU for the Cats. If they both lose this weekend, the loser of the Cat Griz game could be out of the playoff picture.

I am glad you looked in the mirror. It is not a bad thing to base your side of a discussion on reality, because someone is a fan of a team doesn't mean they have to drink the Koop-aide. Don't be afraid to look at both sides. Because a person deep down wants someone to win, doesn't mean they can't say the will not win. You are a Griz fan, would you bet your life savings on them beating the Bison? I would love to see the Griz win that game, but I wouldn't bet anything on it.

Being the devils advocate, is good. If I am wrong great, I am happy for the Griz. If I am right I am not going to come on here and say "I told you so". If I did then I would be an asshole.

By the way when I asked if you were going to USD or Fargo I expected a reply yes or no so I could offer you a beer then you could meet in person and see if I am an asshole.

I do know this, when the name calling tactic is used instead of an argument, name-calling is thus a substitute for rational, fact-based arguments against an idea or belief, based upon its own merits, and becomes an attack on the characteristics or authority of me without addressing the subject of the argument.

We can agree to disagree, no need to name call, I will say you are correct. The Griz are getting a seed in the playoffs. Weird because everyone has three games left. The Griz will win out, NAU will falter, the cats lose the rest of their games, EWU loses to to everyone but MSU.

The Griz get the #1 seed because NDSU loses to Youngstown state. EWU is the other big sky seed who then wins the first game, travels to Missoula to play the Griz in the second round. The Griz win by 45 because they get Adams kicked off the team for some tweet he sent earlier in the year. They then roll over SHSU and the revenge tour is complete.

Wow, I feel good, I have never wore rose colored glasses before. This awesome.

All joking aside. This is just football, and I am a realist. I might have three games at once on in the FCS a weekend. I don't live or die over it. I would much rather go play pool. This last weekend MTJack pm'd me about where to watch the UND NAU game in Fargo, I helped him, then made sure I found him and everything was good. We talked a little football. That is the kind of guy I am. Come to town, I would do the same for you.

Robsnotes4u, I corrected that error in the earlier post, thanks for pointing it out. Though it doesn't change the point, that for the playoffs, an overall record is always more important than a conference record. When considering two conference teams only a head to head comparison might factor in, not if they're 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

I believe the disagreement here is partially based on a misunderstanding. Several teams from the same conference can be seeded in the playoffs. Nothing prohibits it. Yet nobody suggested all these Big Sky teams would be seeded except you. This year, at best two might be seeded, at worst possibly none.

Nor is there any rule dictating teams which finished higher in conference standings must be given a higher spot in the playoffs than another team which had more conference losses. As Havre pointed out there have been many examples of a conference champion being situated at a lower position in the playoffs than their conference foe.

As to the new SRS (simplified rating system), it hasn't been spelled out exactly what that system is, nor how much weight the new elements will be given over the criteria previously used. I don't know if the Grizzlies will make the playoffs. Yet I can say a 10-2 record gives them at least a 50/50 shot at a seed regardless of how many other Big Sky teams are seeded. :ugeek:

Wait a minute... Aren't you a UND fan?

I will explain it again. I grew up in Montana. My dad is a bobcat, lived in Bozeman when he went to college. My wife went to Missoula. We like both teams and cheer them on equally except for when they play each other. We want them both in the playoffs. In fact my wife helps big sexy Griz with the alumini party in Fargo, and we both went to the Griz Sioux game, along with helping the alumini assoc for the cats at the cats Sioux game. I went to UND. We live in Fargo, but we were excited to see the Sioux enter the big sky so we could see both Montana teams play. So yes I am a Sioux.

Confusing. I like all three and don't really care which of the three win. That is why I can look at theses games differently than most.

My reality, my perception is EWU is the best team this year in the BSC. I think MSU win over NAU holding Baumann to 26 yards, and DM only playing 3 quarters with the only score by NAU being a defensive pick 6 puts them in second. Can the Griz beat the Cats? Yes. I don't think they will. Can the cats beat EWU? Yes. I don't think they will.

My predictions like everyone else's mean nothing, there are three weeks left with tough games, possible injuries, and many other teams that could falter in other conferences. Right one it is all smoke and mirrors.

I am a total Sioux fan in one sport. Hockey.

By the way I was a

Gotcha. I just remember reading a conversation earlier this year and for some reason I had your name tied down as being a Sioux.
I'm with on Ewu being the best in the BSC right now. But I don't think the cats will win the Brawl. The numbers don't add up for them. And knowing how the cats have always performed in the post season, I'm not counting on the going far, again. Ash can't seem to keep it together when the post season shows up. The Griz's average opponent ranking is 256 and the cats average opponent ranking is 265. And the cats haven't even had a tough schedule. The Griz D isn't where most expected it to be but it'll be there for the Brawl. The 2012 team barely fell to them. There is only about a 1 point spread but Montana owns the 4th quarter and will pull away with a win.

I wouldn't bet either way on the cat Griz game. Rivalry games are tough. I was at the last one in a Bozeman when the Griz won. It was a blast, and didn't go as expected.

My predictions like everyone else's mean nothing, there are three weeks left with tough games, possible injuries, and many other teams that could falter in other conferences. Right one it is all smoke and mirrors.

I am a total Sioux fan in one sport. Hockey.

By the way I was a
Custer county cowboy
Red lodge redskin ( when they where the redskins)
Laurel Locomotive (high school)

My wife was a Westby Ranger

Very true. Tough to bet on something that has little ground to stand on. UMs stats are a little bit better but anything can happen.
