Stitt pretty much single-handedly destroyed UM's recruiting advantages with this years C----F----. For those hoping that "Stitt's recruits" are going to solve the problems next year, you are in for a shock only if you don't understand how this guy looks in the football world right now. He's turned this program into a joke.
The fact is, there are few on the team that will even say they like the guy, let alone respect him. And, it's not because he's a task master or "demanding" high performance. He talks too much, delivers too little, and he has obviously been "tuned out" by the team as a whole. I do think there is a perception, now well-established, that he doesn't know what he's doing. When you lose the 20 year olds who came to play for you, you don't get it back. There's not a "different" Stitt out there. What we've seen is what we got, and what we will get.
The Mighty UM Grizzlies losing to what was, at best, a high school team in Wash-Griz, is now the public perception of "The Griz." You guys that want to "give him" another year are asking only for an opportunity to confirm the damage, and make it permanent. "Recruiting" suddenly became a big issue, which will affect this program for the next four years, regardless of Stitt. Retention may even become an issue.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, in the past two years that demonstrates a coaching competency in any way, shape or form. I have no doubt he will get an extension, that's how Main Hall works, rewarding incompetence. But that only underscores that UM is now the "loser" in the State, and Stitt made it so in the one last area that UM could claim some pride. And Main Hall will confirm that it is dedicated to a "culture of failure" in line with everything else the past six years.
The guy has "earned" or "deserves" nothing.
