Sweet lord jesus! I always thought you were a pretty decent poster but I'm somewhat dismayed by your line of reasoning at this time. Can't you just acknowledge that the defense did enough to win and that facticity played a role for both teams! Can't you just drop the pseudo intellectualism?

Seems I did...multiple times. Thanks for playing.
Nah... You still think your one philosophy course turned you into Bertram Russell.

I don't get why people are taking HHB to task on this. The premise that the UM defense was helped, (to what degree is unknowable), by the loss of their #1 potential All-American QB, is reasonable.

It's not as if he's saying the D sucked all game, just that the outcome could well have been very different, so less was proven than would have otherwise been. That's reasonable. He said it was a gutsy win.

Enjoy it. Sheesh

I'm not saying Helena is wrong. Anyone with any sense at all knows NAU's offense would have produced today with Cookus in the game. But by Helena's rationale, then Griz fans should get the same rationale when discussing Montana's offense in EVERY single game AFTER the UDUB game. The Griz have played the ENTIRE Big Sky schedule to date with 1. A backup RS-Freshman QB who NEVER planned on starting a game this season, 2. the end of the Weber game with the No. 3 QB who hadn't gotten a 1st-team rep since August, AND 3. an H Receiver who hadn't thrown a meaningful pass in more than 700 days.

Or better yet, I'll just let one of the team leaders explain it for you.

Just seems like arguing hypothetical situations is antithetical to what was an actual situation. Stirring the pot when it isn't necessary.

My only rationale was stating that the Griz defense, today, benefited from Cookus getting tossed. People don't have to agree with it, but trying to give credibility to it by using hypotheticals about the Griz offense don't disprove it. The Griz defense played a solid game against the team NAU put on the field. But I still don't get all Gooey thinking about the Griz defense based on this game. Sorry it gets so many peoples panties in a huge wad.

Bertram was actually Bertrand's younger brother. Played a few seasons of AA ball in the 60s. Good guy. Awful philosopher.

What is hypothetical about this? The Griz have played the ENTIRE Big Sky schedule to date with 1. Those are in fact the quarterbacks the Griz' opponents have had to play this season. That's a fact. The Griz have played with a backup a No. 3 JC transfer and a tight end since Phillips went down.

Maybe the multiple posts about "what if the Griz offense had Jensen or Phillips today instead of Simis and Hill" type.

To be fair, a hypo about Cookus not getting tossed doesn't prove anything about the Griz's defensive performance, either, but it's at least on the correct side of the ball.

Bertram Russell told me that back in the day.

Bitch about the D. D gives up 15 and basically wills the Griz to a win.

Keep bitching motherfuckers....there's a 3-year extension on the horizon, along with an 8-3 record and playoff berth.

The main reason that you can't understand the praise for the UM defense is because you don't understand football. You have consistently posted dumb football stuff the whole time you have been posting. That's why I jump on you so much. At some point, I just can't stand all the stupid stuff you say.

You are 100% right, of course. The true frosh NAU QB looked just like any kid would look who had to play his first snaps in a big game in Washington/Griz stadium. These posters gloating about how great our defense looked seem to forget how easily Cookus moved NAU down the field resulting in a missed chip-shot FB before Cookus was ejected. IMO, Cookus would have torched us for 400 passing yards if he had stayed. If I am wrong, please tell me why.

Because it didn't happen. Apparently you don't live in Realville. Trying to cheapen the game that the kids worked their asses off to win just makes you look like a jerk. Cookus made a YUGE mistake and may very well have cost his team the game. Too bad. Any other supposition as to what happened is stupid.
