One generation has vivid memories of playing in national championships.

The other has never done so.

That's the difference.

Profound observation. I agree. Started when Bobby 1.0 ended and continues to this day. Took eight years to run the Griz into the ground. This is year five of Bobby 2.0. Took Don Read ten years to go from garbage to NC, the last three years to be recognized and relevant nationally. How long does Bobby get to reverse the Engstrom F'up?

We must run in some different circles, I guess. That really hasn't been my experience. I hear a lot less complaining outside of egriz, and there seems to be a generational gap, too, if I am honest. I think people tend to get angrier and more negative as they get older, and that is the age group that I have heard the majority of the bitching about Bobby Hauck from. (I have no idea how old you are, I'm just making a general point)

A lot of those responses are just you arguing against a point you invented. I haven't heard anybody saying "wait till he gets his players" in years, that wouldn't even make sense.

I think the recovery of the Griz football program has been a lot stronger than you feel it has, and that is okay. Out of his years back, there has only been one year where the outcome at the end of the season was disappointing based on my expectations going into the season. The Big Sky has gotten a LOT better over the last ten years or so, and I don't expect us to win the conference and play in the national title game every year. I think that would be unrealistic. I want continued progress toward the goal of being at the top of the mountain. If the Griz take another step backward this year, then I will reassess my support of the Hauck regime, but they have more than met my expectations so far.

For reference, one poster went back to see what was happening on egriz the year we beat Central Washington by 3 points. "The sky was falling. The team wasn't living up. Hauck isn't getting it done. The team will go .500." We went to the national championship that year. Relax. We have a good, young team. We have a QB who should be here to develop for 3 years. We are heading in the right direction, in my opinion.

That's a fair point. I was there for it in the 90's, but I was pretty young. I started in Missoula in 05, and I remember how great it was to be a national contender every year. I just feel like we have been on a path to getting back to that. This year will say a lot, and I have faith.
