Yep, it's so tough for these position coaches. Some of the escalators in Bobby's contract also apply to the assistants, but in general you position coaches are making 40-60, max. You should see the salaries of the head coaches in the non revenue sports...
If that is the case you should not be using NAIA as an example. It's like saying coaches leave for the pros or an FBS team because of money . That should have nothing to do with the FCS. If you are going to compare it according to you it should strictly be FCS to FCS. I just can't understand you sometimes. You want your cake and eat it too.I'm not relitigating this. You said that we should be playing a Montana NAIA team on the schedule every year, and I told you why that was an asinine idea that helps nobody. When a separate conversation comes up about how much coaches are paid, and I say "it is even worse in the NAIA," that really has nothing to do with scheduling them to play us except to show, again, how far below the Griz that the programs in the NAIA are.
So that means if Pawlak left for the money he would need to double that say $200K plus? According to Eldod the last coach at Western Michigan made $120K.Does not sound like he left Montana for the money.Oline coach made about 100k base and RB coach makes about 80k base. Get other incentives on top of that.
Agreed, but very tough piece to lose with his connections to the big boys in the mid west..I thank him for his service and wish him luck. I respect people who bet on themselves to improve their lot in life. That said, he is replaceable.
I get this line of thought, but the only midwestern big boy he's brought in was Carter Bowen, our 4 HS OL this class were from Washington, Missoula and Hawaii.Agreed, but very tough piece to lose with his connections to the big boys in the mid west..
All other comments are superfluous.I thank him for his service and wish him luck.
one of very fewOne of the few coaches I really didn't want gone.
He might be this generations Dave Doeren. It's really just the worst possible situation, because we are pretty sure he was gonna be great, but we never got to see those results, so he hardly has a legacy to speak of at all, and he wasn't here long enough to build a new culture in the position group. Shit sucks, as they say.
He is leaving for the opportunity to coach FBS. He will have more access to higher level talent now and I am sure he is most likely hoping to move up the ladder as most aspire to do. Also, he gets a pay raise. Is there really anything else?So that means if Pawlak left for the money he would need to double that say $200K plus? I agree with everything, 406, but " more access to higher-level talent." I guess maybe more in terms of numbers, though Seattle-Tacoma has a little over 4 million residents and the Spokane region, almost 800,000. But most of our incoming O linemen, 406. and while I am far from an expert on Western Michigan football, I think the 3-star kids in their region is who they're recruiting. I don't think Western is competing with Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State for 4 and 5 star student-athletes.He is leaving for the opportunity to coach FBS. I completely agree. I was only offering that side because there are so many 3 star athletes and they aren't at all the same caliber. Some are true 3 stars, some are below, and a few rank higher. It depends on different variables of being noticed or being able to afford regional and national camps.I agree with everything, 406, but " more access to higher-level talent."
