The refs screwed the Packers beyond belief on the last play, as well as other plays down the stretch. Do the officials not even understand the game enough to get the call right on replay? The announcers were dumfounded by the last call and generally poor officiating. Unbelievable.

I lost track, are they still replacement officials PR?

They are. Worst call I have ever seen.
Worst call you have ever seen? It was questionable but hardly the worst ever. The worst ever imho came against the seahawks. Vinny Testeverde was given a touchdown when he wasn't even close. It happened in 1998, it kept the seahawks out of the playoffs and cost Dennis Erickson his job.

I'm a Hawks fan, but that was a horrible call... Forget about the "catch"... It was offensive pass interference period... This might bite the Seahawks if they are involved in another call like that, the "officials" will rule for the other team, and we will see that on Sportscenter 24/7 also

Honestly, what did the NFL expect? These refs are trying their best but they are in over their heads. Don't blame the refs, blame the greedy pockets of the referees and the NFL. Put Hermes out there refing the Griz and you get the same result, someone who thinks they know all the rules but applying them in real time and real situations that matter is a different story.

this aint about the refs being replacements. if u watch the replay the black ref started to make the right call but the white guy said td. so y did they silence the BLACK ref??!! its pretty clear to ne1 who has experienced prejiduce that NFL has a HUGE racism problem and the real refs know it. thats why they striked and i hope they hold on til they get equal pay. its 2012 for us but its like 1812 for refs in the league if u the wrong color

Post of the Year

/end thread

So now a WR can have joint possession by being underneath a guy that actually has the ball as long as the WR has his arm draped over the guy with the ball.

Makes sense seeing how a WR can catch a ball take 2 steps in bounds fall out of bounds with the ball roll a couple times and the ball comes out and its not ruled a catch because he didnt complete the process......

Of course he didnt complete the process he was out of bounds! The NFL sucks

Remember, this happened in real time. Not slow motion, not still pictures.

Tate's left hand is clearly between the ball and Jenning's chest. His right hand is on the top of the ball:

Tate's left hand is just under the ball (fingertips on the ball) in this picture, with his arm between Jenning's chest and the ball, before Jenning's left hand even touches the ball. The ball started to go through Jenning's hands, but Tate slowed it:

I don't think it's clear where Tate's left arm is when he's on the ground. These photos show that Jennings made the catch, and Tate didn't. Even if Tate did have his left arm in there, and his right hand sorta near or over the ball, Jennings is the one who made the catch and is holding the ball to his chest/body. Again, Jennings both made the catch, is holding the ball to his chest/body, and has controlled the ball. Even if Tate has arms/hands in there, he is not controlling the ball. He never controlled the ball. And Jennings came away with the ball relatively soon, which is further evidence that Tate never controlled it.

One hand between the ball and the oppositions chest does NOT, in any way, shape or form give "joint" possession. Horrible call............ You too Wolfman !!

Back in the hotel room after some well deserved beers.

Totally screwed, the roughing call on the interception was BS, the PI on the Packer corner was BS, and the "tie" was not that at all.

At least I witnessed history, the worst call in the history of the NFL (as others are billing it). When Steve Young on sports center points to this as the downward slide of the game that he loves so much... you know something is wrong.

Will be putting a post up on the crowd/atmosphere though, wow - unlike anything I've ever been a part of.

You act as if the only bad calls or non calls went against the Packers. The ending likely wouldn't have gone down the way it did had the refs not called PI on Kam Chancellor on the 3rd down stop near midfield on the Packers' TD drive. There was no PI on the play, at all. Even worse than the PI called on GB later. Not to mention all the holding by GB in the second half trying to stop Clemons and Irvin that wasn't called. All in all, one of the worst, if not THE worst officiated game(s) I've witnessed. IMO, no one truly won that game.

Or the:

1. Late hit PF where Martin was picked - he was outside the tackle box and running - the hit was legal

2. Rice's PI on the same drive where he pulled Shields down.

3. The PI where Taint shoved Shields over to make the catch, admitted by the NFL

All should've killed that drive.

Bad calls both ways, Chanellor didn't interfere on that - it was a bad call too.

So are they using Big Sky refs as replacements.

Not that Im aware ... but on the Dan Patrick show this morning it was mentioned that one of the refs for last nights game had just been recently fired form the lingerie league ... though they didn’t say why.

No Big Sky guys. Their boss is an ex-NFL ref. If they crossed the line they wouldn't work BSC again. I'm not aware of and D-1 guys working--all D-II/D-III/NAIA guys.

There's a NAIA guy from Boise. Worked the Dallas/NYG game opening night.

The evidence suggests otherwise. If he is holding the ball against his chest/body, how come you can read his jersey number in this picture as he is hitting the ground? Tate's left hand is THE HAND that is obscuring the #4 on Jenning's jersey.

Tate got his hands on it at the same time, but Jennings had better positioning to get a better grip. Tate's left hand never left the ball, and he got his right back on it as he was going down to the ground. I'd say that's simultaneous, since for it to be a catch (by either the receiver or defender), they must have control of the ball through the process of going to the ground. I can understand it being called either way, however it shouldn't have ever come down to that... because of the offensive PI on Tate not called, but more importantly the PI called on Kam Chancellor that shouldn't have been called on 3rd and short at midfield on GB's TD scoring drive.
