Pathetic Officiating in Monday Night Game

Back in the hotel room after some well deserved beers.

Totally screwed, the roughing call on the interception was BS, the PI on the Packer corner was BS, and the "tie" was not that at all.

At least I witnessed history, the worst call in the history of the NFL (as others are billing it). When Steve Young on sports center points to this as the downward slide of the game that he loves so much... you know something is wrong.

Will be putting a post up on the crowd/atmosphere though, wow - unlike anything I've ever been a part of.

You act as if the only bad calls or non calls went against the Packers. The ending likely wouldn't have gone down the way it did had the refs not called PI on Kam Chancellor on the 3rd down stop near midfield on the Packers' TD drive. There was no PI on the play, at all. Even worse than the PI called on GB later. Not to mention all the holding by GB in the second half trying to stop Clemons and Irvin that wasn't called. All in all, one of the worst, if not THE worst officiated game(s) I've witnessed. IMO, no one truly won that game.

...the rule clearly statez...
...the tie goez to the reciever...
...what iz so difficult to understand...

... 8-) ...

Worst call ever??? Super Bowl XL comes to mind, also the tuck rule game which is an interpretation of a questionable rule like last night, Denver San Diego last year...oh wait, those were all the real refs so they were good calls, where was I going...I love how everyone pretends like things were better before. Let's face it, the refs aren't good now and they weren't good before.

Did GB get hosed? Probably.

Do I feel bad? Nope. They've been getting EVERY call for the past 5-10 yrs.

You really believe it was a tie? The can call it that, but given the ability to watch a replay seems to indicate otherwise.

As ticked off as I am about it being a packers fan, it doesn't help that the packers first two trips to the red zone resulted in only 6 points. They get at least one touchdown out of that, like they should have, this call is an afterthought.

...controversy makez the internet grow stronger...

Maybe the Packers should have played better in the first half! But I have to give them cudos for halftime adjustments! I also agree with the bogus pi call earlier in the drive on Seattle! Wasn't even close to being pass interference! PS - Great Job Vikes!

Both teams acted like middle schoolers when they have a substitute teacher. They couldn't behave with the replacement refs. The entire game was surreal. 24 penalties! Found this comment regarding the Hail Mary play at the end...This will be now known as the, “Golden Taint Play”. :D While I thought it was a bad call, the worst call of the game was the PI called against GB that kept the Seahawks drive alive. Earlier, Packers cornerback Sam Shields was called for pass interference on Seattle wide receiver Sidney Rice.

"That’s not defensive pass interference," Gruden said. "I have studied it a long time as well. . . . I used to do this for a living. I actually had very little self-control. I’m about ready to jump out of the press box on that call."

Or GB's Jennings could've just knocked the ball down and there would be no controversy. Game Over.

Then to officially end the game it took another 10 minutes to get the refs and GB team back to kick the extra point.

Folks, this is just one step above the WWE.

Almost as bad as the PI call on that last drive was the PI call they didn't make against Green Bay on the last drive which would have rejuvenated the drive. Yes Tate clearly shoved the guy out of the way in the endzone, just as Seattle's receiver (or tight end, not sure which) who was going up for the ball was tackled to the ground just before catching it. Even Tiricco stated they never call PI on a Hail Mary, the ball is up fro grabs. The tie does not mean both players touched the ball at the same time, simply that by the time the defender had possession the receiver also had possession. It wasn't enough for Jennings to merely have his hands on the ball first, he would have had to maintain possession all the way to the ground. Clearly by the time he was on the ground he still had it, but before he got the the ground Tate also had 2 hands on the ball - so dual possession, and by rule offensive team gets the ball. Sorry Green Bay fans. Also, no team in history has ever been jobbed worse by officials that Seattle (including in the game last night). Even forget the Superbowl, anyone else remember Testeverde being giving a TD for getting his helmet over the line? Even Green Bay's TD last night was questionable if forward progress was stopped and whistle was/Should have been blown before reaching over the line (not to mention the questionable re-spot on the 3rd down conversion). Yes officiating was bad, slightly worse than the regular officials, was bad for both teams, but to blame the loss on the anything in the final drive is really just pathetic

By the way, Greg Jennnings is a whiney little bitch, LMAO watching him get body slammed to the ground when he went after the Seahawks defender.

So are they using Big Sky refs as replacements.
Actually there were a lot of bad calls this weekend. As noted, regular refs make a lot of bad calls as well, but they are not under the microscope when they make them.
Personally I would not cave on the negotiations. The cost of the game is out of hand and to provide a part time worker a handsome pension when he is already making huge bucks for working about 20 days a year is out of reach for my brain.

I also felt the New England Patriots got screwed the night before. The 2nd to last Raven drive of game had 4 really bad calls that combined, gave the Ravens the game and that does not include the horrible call on the field goal.

Bad calls happen to every team. Unfortunate part of sports.

terrible calls all night. of course this will be the most talked about but man that whole game was brutal. my biggest issue is the two refs calling different things and not even getting on the same page. you can't overturn possession in the booth. so the minute one guy signaled touchback, and another signaled td things got out of control. at that time they needed to get together and find an agreement. they still blew the call but i was most disappointed in this aspect.

next, seahawks defense is damn fun to watch. and if you have never watched a game in seattle i encourage it. i try to go every time my vikes are there. fans are crazy loud and have turned seattle into a pretty sweet football city.

You can stop right there. It sums up the entire game. If Packer fans think that the only poor calls went against them they need to turn on the DVR and watch the game again. Pack got screwed at the end, however, as in any game there were way more plays and calls that could have made this a different outcome

If you know the rule please read it correctly. The rule states that if two players catch the ball at the same time the possession goes to the Passers (offense) BUT if one player clearing get possession first then it is that persons. If you watch the play not only does Tate push off for PI Jenning catches the ball and pulls it to his chest. Tate has one hand on the ball and one hand off indicating that he does not have full possession.

Know the rule before you talk about it.

tie goes to the runner. they got it right.

Biggest myth baseball rule out there. No such thing. And, no, the hand is NOT part of the bat.

WHAT??? You don't get a new pair of hands when you get a new bat???

ESPN is reporting that the gambling swing from that final play was $150M. :o :o :o

The "real" refs need to get off their high-horse & realize that have it pretty good. They're part-time employees making roughly 150K, for what......64 hours a year? Sure maybe they have to do a little training in the off season when it comes to rule changes & such, but c'mon. If I was the NFL, I would do exactly what they're doing-stand firm. They already make close to what the league minimum is for players, & have the freedom to pursue another career in the off-season (& most do!-unlike players) without having to constantly train & keep their bodies in tip-top condition to hopefully make the roster come training camp. What's the average career for an NFL player? 3 or 4 years, maybe? The refs have it good, 16 games a year-travel, food & lodging paid for. They need to get the F out there, period.

you are severely underestimating the time put in by referees. they hone their craft just like every other professional. they study, watch film, take tests, and travel all over. some put in nearly 50 hours a week. if it was just dudes hopping out of a cab for a few hours on sunday the officiating would look JUST like it does right now.
