Pathetic Officiating in Monday Night Game

Here is the solution: OK - you want a pension? You are now a full-time NFL employee. You make $150K per year, and get a pension, and other benefits that employees of the NFL get.

HOWEVER, you are now expected to put in 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. There will be year around training, including physical conditioning. You will have to meet minimum physical requirements, and will be tested each month. You will be graded, and promoted or demoted based on your grade. You are subject to being fired, just like anyone else.

And by the way..... You must quit your other job by Sunday......

Worst call ever??? Super Bowl XL comes to mind, also the tuck rule game which is an interpretation of a questionable rule like last night, Denver San Diego last year...oh wait, those were all the real refs so they were good calls, where was I going...I love how everyone pretends like things were better before. Let's face it, the refs aren't good now and they weren't good before.

Good post..........

The NFL is full of examples of horrible officiating. Music city miracle. Don Bebe stepping out of bounds and comming back in to catch a TD against the Houston Oilers in the playoffs in the biggest comeback in NFL playoff history. Brady Tuck rule. Ed Hochuli couldn't make head or tails on a coin toss, for overtime game with Pittsburgh v Detroit. Vinny Testaverde and the Jets getting a TD when no part of Vinny's body or ball even crossed the 1 y...more

Oh wait those are the regular refs..........

The only real problem is that all of you people hating the "replacement refs" are buying the incredible sales job the NFL is throwing out there. You are being market manipulated!!!

A big evil corporation is making you think things are different (to help their bargaining leverage).....and these things existed before all of this.

Suckers

the other thing that would help - you whine about a call, you scream at an official, you get in an officials face - you are gone immediately and for 2 games. Get suspended twice and you are gone for the season. Coaches and players know they can intimidate these refs, and they do and the result in hesitancy to make calls and make up calls/no calls. Now that players and coaches have tasted blood and had success doing it it won't stop until the NFL cracks down (and I don't mean fines, which mean nothing to these people).

Also the NFL can admit when a ref makes a mistake.

It's all and good regarding your outrage. Problem being the NFL is a 8 Billion dollar organization. If you short change the refs it won't take the gamblers long to fill the void.

I am not really outraged. I just wonder about a part-time employee wanting benefits that some of the full-time NFL employees don't get.

I don't care who wins the negotiations. I just want the regular refs back.

If you know the rule please read it correctly. The rule states that if two players catch the ball at the same time the possession goes to the Passers (offense) BUT if one player clearing get possession first then it is that persons. If you watch the play not only does Tate push off for PI Jenning catches the ball and pulls it to his chest. Tate has one hand on the ball and one hand off indicating that he does not have full possession.

Know the rule before you talk about it.

Forshizzle, but when is possession determined? Does the player catching the ball have to establish himself in the field of play? If so, can the other player establish simultaneous possession while the player is still not established and still in the air? I am not trying to justify the call, but when is actually possession of the ball determined by rule?

Obviously, there was an Offensive Pass Interference call that was missed that would have meant the end of the game = Packers win. Since it was missed, there is no review of penalties. So, the call then goes to the reception.

A simultaneous catch goes to the offense. Period. True that Jennings was first to touch the ball. However, he did not have full control of the ball before Tate got a hold of it. Tate clearly had his left hand on the ball in between the ball and Jenning's chest. He got his right hand on it before they hit the ground. Tate never gave it up. In real-time, it more so appears as a simultaneous catch. The TD stands, eventhough it never should have happened.

Had Jennings used his head, he would have tipped the ball out of the back of the endzone or knocked it down, instead of trying to be the hero. If so, game over = Packers win.

BUT, that did not happen. Seahawks should have never won, but they did.

And no, I am not a Seahawks fan. The non-call on the Offensive Pass Interference was a tragedy.

Jennings had clear possession of the ball. Tate had clear possession of Jennings with his arm barely touching the ball. I don't like the Packers but that is not a TD.

and that is after he took the right arm completely away from the play and went back in to try and get any part of the ball! always love the pack losing but that was just awful.

Notice that Tate's left arm is between the ball and Jenning's body. Notice that Jenning's right hand is NOT on the ball against his chest. The ball is up by Jenning's facemast in that picture. Not fully controlled by either player. Simultaneous control.

Remember, this happened in real time. Not slow motion, not still pictures.

Tate's left hand is clearly between the ball and Jenning's chest. His right hand is on the top of the ball:

Tate's left hand is just under the ball (fingertips on the ball) in this picture, with his arm between Jenning's chest and the ball, before Jenning's left hand even touches the ball. The ball started to go through Jenning's hands, but Tate slowed it:

Not that Im aware ... but on the Dan Patrick show this morning it was mentioned that one of the refs for last nights game had just been recently fired form the lingerie league ... though they didn’t say why.

LMFAO! THAT must be it.

NFL is buying up all of the college boards and having people like Alpha and Growler1 drive all the people off. They need moderators for controlled banning.

Seems it would be more natural for the regular refs to hype how bad the replacements are ... rather than the NFL. .... also the media loves this and gets a lot out of the “frustration”.

As far as who is to blame for the stalemate how can anyone know? There haven’t been any public statements, from either side, on what the sticking points are in the negotiations, which side(s) are not willing to budge, etc.
