Passing Yards

I am guessing we will be up considerably. If they get over 300 yards, it will from having to comeback 14 plus points. IF any team racks up passing yards as a result of playing catch up ball, then I cannot bitch too much about pass yardage given up. Now if it is during a normal flow of the game, like last year, then there will be concern.

I'm a little worried about this game. I know your players think last year was a fluke especially the game in Grand Forks and are going to be on a mission to kill everything that moves. If UND doesn't have the right mind set going in you guys could win big.

For passing yards I'm hoping for between 250 and 325. Any more than that and it means our defense is getting owned and our run game is getting stuffed. I'd rather run for 300 than pass for it. Unfortunately the only way of getting big yards on you guys seems to be going over the top of your front 7 instead of through them.

It will be less than last year just because they won't see the field as much. This Griz team can actually get some first downs and milk some clock.

Our safeties are still the weak link to our defense. I know that whats-his-name caused a fumble and recovered another. But he also wiffed on an open-field tackle of a receiver. He is a very poor tackler.

If they're starting a redshirt freshman and this is his third game ever starting them, we're gonna put some pressure on the kid.

He throws for about 220 if that

The QB isnt the same as last year?

I've gotta totally agree here. Good post.

In fact, all the QBs listed on North Dakota's roster are either freshmen or redshirt freshmen. That's the very first time I've ever heard of a team having only freshmen QBs:

RFR. Ryan Bertels
RFR. Joe Mollberg
RFR. Jake Hanson
Fr. Sam Riddle
Fr. Kurt Palendech

Put enough pressure on them and they make freshmen mistakes?

Its tough to predict how a freshman will play. Do you know if they are sharing reps?

All I know is what they tell me.

Ryan Bartels started and went 10 - 12 on his passing for 212 yds and one TD; the other QB that played against Valparaiso was Mollberg, that went 6 - 7 for 74 yds.

Their leading rusher is Jake Miller, a senior that is 5'11 and weighs 166 lbs. Rushed 17 times for 108 yds and 3 TDs. Other than that there is Adam Shaugabay, 6'0" and 199 lbs that rushed 5 times for 16 yds and 3 TDs. Two leading receivers in Greg Hardin: 5 catches for 163 yds and Ken Golladay, 6'4" 195 lbs Sophomore, 5 catches for 58 yds. Those are the players that put up the most stats against Valparaiso.

Probably get a better read on North Dakota after they play South Dakota State this coming weekend.

The number one receiver will have 200 yards because he can even with only 3-4 catches he could get there. Great playmaker. The rest of the team at 100 for a smooth 300 and a loss for UND.

Remember that they were playing arguably the single worst team in FCS, though.

I think App State's defense is better than theirs, and even with the huge numbers last year, they only beat us by a score. They might get their yards, but I don't see them scoring much. I say we win by 14+.

The SDSU game will tell us more, though, like you said.

I hope Sam Riddle gets some minutes.....haven't seen him play since he transferred to UM Western a few years ago. Pretty good passer....and dribbler! Hear he's been lighting up Vegas lately.

Yeah, wrong Sam Riddle there.

I'm sure it will be news to Sam that he is enrolled at North Dakota. He is usually booked for a show on Saturday nights according to his FB page.
