He should have been a safety with his speed, height, and hitting ability. He would have been a pro prospect as a safety. Purely mediocre compared to Coyle and even JP.

JP is one of the worst players on our whole defense, they throw swing passes at him all the time knowing that he is going to take on the blocker and not make the play, when he is back in a zone they pass at him and run at him for huge plays all the time!!67silvergrad said:Tripp is very athletic, but has not played his position well, missed tackles, late to the dance and out of position. No not true. Not even close. Is a pro prospect, and a good one, as a lb. Doesn't miss many tackles, is almost never late to the dance, and has played his position well. Get out of here with you nonsense.

Wyoming recently fired their D Coordinator for giving up similar points and yards for two games in a row......1Griz_Fan said:griz4life said:and what are we going to do when a big time program comes calling for our dc? ty is a highly sought after up and comer. he`s been one offer away from leaving UM since he arrived in 2003.
That was the funniest thing I read in a while. While it may be true that Gregorak may end up at a big time program (which I doubt) we will be no worse than it has been since he was the D coordinator. Ty may be a great position coach but a good D coordinator he is not. Plus once he moves up he will either lead a D that gives up countless yards and points until he gets fired or have a sequel to his own rendition of the Hangover.
Now here comes PR...defender of the weak and timid. NFL...backer??? my a$$  Can't wait for the sprayed on sugar on this one   :egriz: Without J.J. we are total dogshit.oGriz said:Of all the defensive passing stats, "yards per game" is one of the least correlated with winning. It's really quite a useless predictor of winning. Montana is 12 out of 13 conference teams in passing defense yards. Guess what team is the worst in that category. If you guessed Eastern Washington, you would be correct.
Both Montana and Eastern Washington are quite a bit better in passing efficiency defense. Weber State is the opposite: They are fifth best in the conference in passing defense (yards) but second worst in the country in passing efficiency defense, and also, of course, last in the conference standings.
We're third in the conference in rushing defense (a yard per game more than second place MSU). You think opposing teams know that and utilize the pass more?

In my opinion, the rules of the game as well as the more aggressive offensive tactics employed across the board have made having a shut down defense close to impossible.
And now add to that the officials' increased scrutiny on defensive ferocity, and playing defense has practically become a standard bend but don't break overall philosophy.
Fans want their team's offense to score 48 a game, but only allow 17. I just think it is the rare team that will ever get there in today's game, unless they are continually playing teams well below their level.
