PASS DEFENSE

If it wasn't for our linebackers we would be in big trouble. That game should not have been close. We are up by 2 scores and can't stop them. Their QB played a great game but we made him look realy good!

Tripp looks lost out there. Always late to the party.

BS to your comment. Tripp had 9 tackles today. JK, Hermie, Harris, Coyle: 15, 14, 11 and 10. Hermie forced 2 fumbles.

I too will take a win anytime. Just don't think we can win out with our d. We win our next two and we will be in the playoffs but we got our work cutout for us. One game at a time.

A team with that many tackles is a defense on the field way too much. While there were great individual plays on the d, you can't argue the fact that we really couldn't stop Sac, or really anybody for that matter.

Way too soft of coverage like always, very little use of nickel packages. The defense has started to blitz more to help out the secondary, and it still is not helping. I think I have come to the realization that we are not good at all on defense vs the pass with a team with a running qb. But we did win, thank god that Sac did not have enough guys prepared for going for 2.

Contain the edge and force the opposition to run/pass to the middle of the field. Sac got all their yards outside the hash marks. We shouldn't have to score 51 pts to win a game. On the other hand...thank your maker we can score that many points!

and what are we going to do when a big time program comes calling for our dc? ty is a highly sought after up and comer. he`s been one offer away from leaving UM since he arrived in 2003.

What are we going to do? Let him go! Teams are putting up huge numbers, scoring a lot, and setting yardage records and/or PR's on the D all the time. Must be real sought after if he's been waiting for "the big offer" for 10 years. Shouldn't have to score 45+ every game to win. :coffee:

Dude! Sac St. ran 97 plays..

Tripp is very athletic, but has not played his position well, missed tackles, late to the dance and out of position. He should have been a safety with his speed, height, and hitting ability. He would have been a pro prospect as a safety. Purely mediocre compared to Coyle and even JP.

Pass defense may have been suspect, but our DE play is concerning. We can't control the edge! Our DE get sucked in every play!

what this dude said. poor outside contain. I can get on board with a DE stunt to the inside, but somebody has to set the edge. didn't happen on more than a couple plays.

Are you out of you G damn mind???? JP is one of the worst players on our whole defense, they throw swing passes at him all the time knowing that he is going to take on the blocker and not make the play, when he is back in a zone they pass at him and run at him for huge plays all the time!!
