Pabst Blog: A Must Read

Congrats Pabst and Paoli. You succesfully defended JJ. NOW LET IT GO!

I think they would love to let it go - but as her blog, and comments out of the Prosecution's office indicate it is the Prosecutors and advocacy groups that can't let it go.

****URGENT NOTICE****

The Lot P tailgate has just negotiated a contract for the next 2 years in regards to the beer we will have stocked in the coolers.

You will all be happy to know that Hamms will be the beer refreshing any attendees at our tailgate.

As always we strive to keep the tailgating fun one step ahead of the stagnate entertainment inside the stadium.

The lot P tail gate is mascot free.......unless you count Grizo but we dont think of him "that" way

I am relieved and thankful that a young man's life was not thrown away and thank the defense attorneys and jury for working to "do the right thing."

Well, that's the double-standard of these malicious hypocrites, isn't it?

They spend nearly a year bashing and slandering the kid and proclaiming the "rape culture," maliciously maligning everyone they could lay their "social justice" hands on, including a fully gratuitous attack on egriz and an intentional "outing" of its owner, a fully complicit newspaper and obliging reporter fanning in every way she could the flames of that hatred, and then when the trial is over, and a jury has fully repudiated their social justice agenda that they burdened the hapless alleged victim with, they hold a very visible protest and begin what these people do best: intimidate, coerce, shout-down, shun and do everything in their self-righteous, vindictive power to punish anyone, anyone, who strayed from the politically correct agenda.

And that's what this was all about for these people: the political agenda. It isn't about truth and it isn't about justice for them. It never was. It is the farthest thing from it. And it certainly wasn't about the alleged victim; hardly; her well-being was the last thing that concerned these people, otherwise this would not have been stampeded to trial where her every deception, her every lie, her every manipulation stood exposed for the world to see.

And they will never "let it go." They're not like that. Behind their self-righteous facades, these are not "good people." They are every lynch mob that was ever formed, fired by the same twisted self-justified, rationalized hate.

Engstrom very publicly went after everyone at UM that stood up for JJ before the trial; he wanted it known he was ahead of the lynch mob; he would lead it and he would visibly support "the cause," which was now tied inextricably but purposely to an unfortunate young man unfairly charged. These "advocacy" groups will now go after everyone that stood up for JJ in the community formerly known as "Missoula."

Call it "Maycomb, Alabama" instead.

Is that TokyoGriz I see holding a pitchfork?

I was hoping this whole JJ situation would quietly ride off into the sunset. Writing a blog about the situation and bringing it back into the forefront of people's minds is just dousing the flames (again) and seems a little Florioish to me.

Nope, you are wrong. Many on the other side are the ones who keep bringing it up and going after Pabst. Pabst is merely responding and setting the record straight. Perhaps you should pay more attention.

That was an interesting read.

A modern version, in a close way, of Harper Lee's epic novel about a lawyer taking on the defense of an innocent accused, in a charged atmosphere of prejudice and political opportunism.

All of the stage players are right here, in Missoula, Montana: the slippery has-been politician seeking personal publicity from the tragedy, a thoroughly ambiguous prosecutor egged on by furious and self-righteous "folks," the hate groups calling for a good old fashioned lynching, the hanging judge who made it obvious she couldn't wait to pass sentence, the local newspaper pandering to the local prejudice and fanning the flames of injustice to sell newspapers, the local YWCA director taking on the role of the preacher condemning the heathen accused and all the sinners he represents, the cowardly University president caving to pressure and firing anyone who dared stand up for the accused, the willingness to suspend all measures of honest fairness in favor of a predetermined outcome, and the despicable bitterness afterward of a community of closed minds refusing to acknowledge it's own guilt in its rush to judgment.
Good for Kirsten.
Quite a good post; captures it perfectly.

The prosecustion was caught with their pants down; since they had no evidence, their only chance was for JJ to cop a plea, which they probably expected. They grossly underestimated his fortitude.

Missoula County Attorney Fred Van Valkenburg is an absolute incompetent and a political flunky. He should be asked to resign. :!:

Kirsten's post is well known to those of us who defend the Constitution and along the way, the wrongly accused. We are no longer one of the "good guys" or have gone over to the Dark Side (They've got cookies!) because we don't accept their "truths." Never mind that their truths are just the latest fad, they are heartfelt and unquestionable.
"Women would never lie about rape," or "98% of all rape accusations are true" demean women by ignoring the fact that they are humans, and like all humans, full of complicated and contradictory thoughts and emotions. Throw in the rape industry abettors who at the same time offer sympathy (you poor dear) and praise (How brave of you to see this prosecuted) and most people of weaker will and even less integrity start to buy into the game. Remember the Duke Lacrosse team "victim" who still maintained that she had been raped even after the graphic evidence disproved it. I am sure she was also a product of the rape industry.
Trials should be a search for the truth, but too often they are nothing more than a parlor game for the prosecution. There is no "discretion" in prosecutorial discretion. They will upend someone's life just because they can. If a jury returns a "Not guilty", well then it's all a product of that sleazy defense attorney, and the judge who is biased against them, or the ignorant fools of the jury who refused to consider the facts.
The power to prosecute is the power to harass and imprison. We should be very careful of who we choose to imbue that power with. Luckily, Fred won't have to suffer our rejection at the next election. But let's not let his clone in either. And if you are ever called as a juror, remember that it is your solemn duty to put the State to the test and not let your biases fill in the blanks that they don't prove. If you don't hold them to that standard, then you might as well go out to Arlington Cemetery and piss on all the graves of those who died for our rights.
