SEC SCHOOL "I will end the discussion right now. I have played in Jordan Haire Stadium(Auburn:79k+) and @ Washington-Grizzly Stadium. It got loud at the end of the Auburn game when they scored the gw td with less than 1 minute to go in Tuberville's debut, but Montana was different. Those fans were right on top of you and i can tell you that is was louder in that "little" stadium than @ Auburn. " - App State player 2007-2010
UTENN "I have coached in stadiums all over the country in my career. Penn State, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Nebraska to name a few. All of these facilities held 80,000 to 100,000 people. None of these stadiums were as loud as the only FCS school in the country to sell more season tickets then Old Dominion, the University of Montana. What made Montana different was the fans were at their loudest when their opponent was on offense. They knew they could eliminate the offensive check system with noise. They were the 12th defender on the field by making the offense predictable. And they took great pleasure in every penalty the visiting team received. They knew that was their penalty !! A better reading would be if the decibel meter were on top of the XFL cam when it was at the center of the field.
Not really holding out that the Guinness Book of Alleged World Records will ever do it correctly.

I havent been to any of the mentioned venues and I reckon a lot of the views are subjective. Let's keep making noise and being the 12th man and with a couple more wins perhaps we will have the chance to raise hell for a game or 2 later this season. Looking forward to it. :thumb:

When discussing decibels, people forget a key factor. Every person in the crowd is focused on the ball. Thus, all of the noise is focused on the ball. I'm sure it is much louder at the ball than anywhere else on the field. So, any measure taken underestimates the loudest area of the stadium, the ball.

Been to lots of stadiums, big and small. Only one that compares to Washington-Grizzly for noise was in Seattle, for a soccer game. No kidding. Those folks are into it.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- For total noise volume at certain points in a game, WA/Griz is not going to compete with a lot of the big stadium. And yes - Tiger Stadium is the loudest I've heard - Autzin, UW, The Swamp are up there though. (Never been to Clemson, FSU, PSU or Ohio St..)
As far as consistent LOUD noise through a total game, there is nowhere like WA/Griz.
And as far as home field advantage, WA/Griz has to be the tops by a long shot... especially if we are talking playoff football against a southern team with temps in the teens and some snow fallen.
