Our Stadium

Don't forget how loud MSU's stadium is. The last time I was there the crowd noise almost drowned out the moo's coming from the field behind the stadium. Feel free to post a beautiful picture if you have one.

They do have damn good hamburgers though, fresh beef ya know.

After a victory over Seahawks in Seattle he was asked if he had ever experienced more noise in a stadium. His response was "Missoula Montana is way louder" - Tony Romo

"Because it's so closed in. The noise is so confined. My granddaughter got so scared in that place - she was 7 years old - she never let go of her mother for the whole first quarter." - Joe Gardi, coach

"Their atmosphere is a lot better than The Rock. Their crowd makes Michigan's 109,000 sound like mice. I promise you that there isn't another stadium in our division like Montana's stadium and fans. It was the loudest place I have ever been to in my life. Our 30K+ isn't even close to the 22,000 I heard today. The experience was awesome today." - Jerry Moore, App State Coach

" I've been to alot of places, this has gotta be tops. Reminds me of Autzen stadium in Oregon." - Todd Harris & Charles Arbuckle, ESPN announsers: App State (11-2) vs Montana (13-0) 2009

After playing at Nebraska and losing 17 - 3 loss in front of over 85,000 fans: “Coming here, we thought this would be the loudest crowd we've ever faced, but I'd say Montana was quite a bit louder.” - Thomas O'Brien, South Dakota State QB

SEC SCHOOL "I will end the discussion right now. I have played in Jordan Haire Stadium(Auburn:79k+) and @ Washington-Grizzly Stadium. It got loud at the end of the Auburn game when they scored the gw td with less than 1 minute to go in Tuberville's debut, but Montana was different. Those fans were right on top of you and i can tell you that is was louder in that "little" stadium than @ Auburn. " - App State player 2007-2010

UTENN "I have coached in stadiums all over the country in my career. Penn State, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Nebraska to name a few. All of these facilities held 80,000 to 100,000 people. None of these stadiums were as loud as the only FCS school in the country to sell more season tickets then Old Dominion, the University of Montana. What made Montana different was the fans were at their loudest when their opponent was on offense. They knew they could eliminate the offensive check system with noise. They were the 12th defender on the field by making the offense predictable. And they took great pleasure in every penalty the visiting team received. They knew that was their penalty !! " - Bobby Wilder, ODU Head Coach

Loudness, coldness, attendance, whatever you consider, Wa-Griz is a very special and unique place and I know how fortunate we are to have it.

My son went to the Broncos Bucs game in Denver last year and said it didn't compare to WaGriz in noise. I would like to see a game in Arrowhead sometime to experience 137 decibels.

Most likely the actual noise was not 137 db, much like the Seahawk game was not 136.6, as the measurement was made a few yards from the stands which is greatly impacted by how many big mouths are in the immediate vicinity. A better reading would be if the decibel meter were on top of the XFL cam when it was at the center of the field.

Not really holding out that the Guinness Book of Alleged World Records will ever do it correctly.

I havent been to any of the mentioned venues and I reckon a lot of the views are subjective. Let's keep making noise and being the 12th man and with a couple more wins perhaps we will have the chance to raise hell for a game or 2 later this season. Looking forward to it. :thumb:

When discussing decibels, people forget a key factor. Every person in the crowd is focused on the ball. Thus, all of the noise is focused on the ball. I'm sure it is much louder at the ball than anywhere else on the field. So, any measure taken underestimates the loudest area of the stadium, the ball.

And while we have a river next to WaGriz, MSU has a beautiful pond...water treatment facility.

Been to lots of stadiums, big and small. Only one that compares to Washington-Grizzly for noise was in Seattle, for a soccer game. No kidding. Those folks are into it.

What was the official recorded decibel reading for the EWU game? I never actually heard what the highest reading was. Anyone know?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- For total noise volume at certain points in a game, WA/Griz is not going to compete with a lot of the big stadium. And yes - Tiger Stadium is the loudest I've heard - Autzin, UW, The Swamp are up there though. (Never been to Clemson, FSU, PSU or Ohio St..)

As far as consistent LOUD noise through a total game, there is nowhere like WA/Griz.

And as far as home field advantage, WA/Griz has to be the tops by a long shot... especially if we are talking playoff football against a southern team with temps in the teens and some snow fallen. :D

No kidding I really admire Seattle fans for having the fan base they do when the city has a history of bad teams.
