Bakun "We have always had a defense that we knew would most likely shut anyone down". Unless you weren't a Griz fan in 1992-1996, you might want to retract that statement.

havgrizfan said:No, i'm telling you Montana hasn't ALWAYS had a dominating defense. Did you see the Delaware playoff game in 1993? The Boise State and Idaho State games in 1994? The Idaho loss in 1995? Wild games at Northridge and Eastern Washington in 1996 in which the Griz won in spite of giving up over 600 yards of offense in each of those contests? The national championship game at Marshall in 1996? I can go on if you want me too.

Overrated DL
Overrated front 7
Lost
Bad scheme
Bad tackling
Horrible tackling
I dont care who we played, our defense isnt getting it done. You idiot one game fixes everything morons are not even smart enough to see this and I am sure you will instantly go into cliche mode.
"We got the W"
We wont when we play an average team. (like NAU)
The worst part is this is the same sh*t we watched last year and there is no improvement since last year.
We still are the worst tackling team I have ever seen, its embarrassing. I was wishing that we still had the bear paw on the back of the helmets so nobody would know the Griz suck that bad at the most basic fundamental thing about football.
Still play zone and give up huge chunks of yardage.
Safetys are just as bad as they were 3 years ago, sorry I was a Hermanson fan and he is regressing and maintaining the status quo.
Gregorek is over his head I didnt think anyone could make me want Paulson back but he would be welcome anytime.
Our offense needs to keep the throttle open wide because our defense is not going to help us go anywhere.

I still don't think Tripp, Coyle and Alex are overrated though. I think Holmes is going through sophomore growing pains and Wags has fallen in love with one style and is becoming pretty easy to block. As for the rest, well, why is anybody surprised by the play of the secondary?? They are the same GUYS AS LAST YEAR with the exact same scheme as last year!!! They are what they are at this point. Although I do think J.R. Nelson will be a great Griz corner in the future.
HookedonGriz said:They hung 390 yards passing on us.....not good. However, I thought they did a good job of stifling a very good runner in Adams to under 100 yards. That guy is scary good and has averaged 120+ per game and our front 7 shut that down pretty well. I thought Chief looked like a "shut down" corner for the first time all year....breaking up 3-4 very tough plays and making 2 picks....one was outstanding. The rest of the secondary and safety play is a bit suspect, and I think a lot of that is due to no pressure on the QB. Although it's not perfect, it's a big step up from last year in my humble opinion.

I66 of the passing yards came later in the game, after UM was up 45-20 and substituting freely. 71 of them came on the late long pass, in which the defender was in good position but the pass was perfect.

“I would’ve hoped it was less than that. Obviously, we gave up too many yards. I told the defense Sunday night … I don’t like the bend-don’t-break thing. That’s not us. Unfortunately, it has kind of been us.”
One thing that gets Gregorak’s dander up is poor tackling. He’s not happy with what he’s seeing.
“I don’t like it right now, I just don’t,” he said. “I’m sorry, but we tackled very poorly last week. ... We have to become a great tackling team. We work on it all week. There were missed tackles today. I haven’t counted them, but I promise you I will in the morning. We have to become a great tackling team.”
Let's hope they are able to implement the changes needed to live up to the pre-season hype and make a deep playoff run :thumb:

Yes Lebsock is about the best tackler on the team....and he hits people. Lebsock is a playmaker he is always around the ball and makes sh*t happen.
Its a good thing he gets a lot of bench time......and we keep rolling Tully and Hermanson out there each week. :?
As far as the stupid comments about our defense present or past we have had one year in the last 20 that you could even argue we had a decent defense. Anyone that uses the phrase "dominant defense" and the Griz in the same sentence is delusional.....unless you are saying we were just beat by one.
There hasnt been a dominant defense in the BSC since..........well I cant think of one.
NDSU has a dominant defense. Ty is right.......its about time!
