Our Defense is Terrible...

Alpha is just stirring the pot. He walks the line between ingenious instigator and pitiful attention hound. He is best ignored. Never has a positive thing to say about the Griz, just tries to tune the rest of us up. He used to be funny.
JJ is the best QB the Griz have had in 15 years and Van is the best true running back we have ever had at UM.

Sorry to be so negative all the time.

I like Van, but he isn't a "true running back". And he isn't even the best true running back on this team...

I want to nominate this for one of the top 5 dumbest things said on this website! :thumb:

We have never had a RB that cuts, dances and accelerates like Van, even though he is smallish he finishes runs with tenacity and fight he catches the ball well out of the backfield and the weakest part of his game is blocking which he is still better than average at for his size.

Oh wait..............strike this statement it was too positive and 100% right on the money for most of you to comprehend.

Alpha made two positive posts in a row! Let's see how this plays out. I appreciate his football knowledge, if we can just keep him on track...

Van is listed at 5'11", 195. I asked him what he weighed at the start of the season, and he said 195. He was bigger than I thought standing next to him. He looks slender in his uni, from the stands. At Marshall coming into his red shirt soph season, he was listed at 193. I agree with Alpha's comments on cuts, acceleration and speed. Don't recall ever seeing a UM back cut like Van. Terrific top end speed. UM has had some pretty good accelerators. Needs to take care of the ball a bit better.

This! I am very impressed with his abilities, but he needs to secure the ball. Got away with one yesterday. Can't afford those against good teams. He would have had a TD yesterday, but ran into his own lineman downfield. If he gets one on one or one on two in the open field - he is gone.

Woah, calm down. Saying that Canada is the better running back, is one of the top 5 dumbest things said on this site? Huh. I just think that your term "true running back" is a better description of a Chase Reynolds type player is all. And yes Van is a very good player with great cuts and good hands. There is not much between him and Canada, Canada edges it for me though and if I had to pick between them for one player to run the ball the rest of the season it would be Canada.

So far this year we have scored 245pts and allowed 105, not bad for a so so offense and a terrible defense :thumb:

+1 with PR on this one...A guy named "Yohanse" comes to mind at times as I watch Travon perform. No 2 backs are identical just a pt of reference... :egriz:
