We are a much better team with these signings than we were last year. Our post game will be 10x better. We have good rotating size now and four or five solid shooting players. Dunn will average what keron did. We will be a better team overall
Might not want to get ahead of ourselves yet on how much better we are going to be.
#1. We just lost our starting PG who was one of the better shooters on the team from 3 (higher % than Gregory in conference), all conference, in the top lists in many statistics (FG%, 3pt%, steals, etc). Also was one of the better defenders on the team. That's a pretty big blow.
#2. Our posts are unproven. We are all hoping that Breunig steps in and is an immediate all conference player. Fact is though he is fairly unproven too and had 1 point in his last year for Washington. During practices last year Tinkle mentioned how Breunig and Kemp really battled and made it sound like they were much more physical than our other posts. Now with the signing of Krslovic Tinkle is saying how he's going to bring physicality to our posts and toughness that we seemingly lacked. What changed with Kemp and Breunig?
#3. We are putting most of our hope on brand new players in multiple positions being able to step in and contribute from game 1. How often does that happen? How many JC transfers or true freshman have come in and immediately been ready? To be honest with you I can't think of any recently... Even the great ones take a while to finally start getting minutes.
I don't mean this to sound overly negative, but we have to be realistic here with the expectations and not get overly hyped up about the incoming players like we always tend to do thinking they'll step in and solve all our problems & kick ass immediately.
Fact is, this year we have 1 player returning who started more than 20 games on our roster. It may not be a rebuilding year, but right now it's certainly a year full of unknowns and questions.
