$68m privately raised by Oregon from their boosters. Comparing Oregon or Washington to Montana moving up is laughable.

They did get pissed at Oregon. It resulted in Oregon telling the AD it was time to move on.

Nike's COO is a UM alum. If we go FBS, they will drop Oregon and go Montana for sure.....said the dreamers. Or maybe Engen will enhance the business climate in Missoula and we will have a homegrown multi-national corp to support us....said the delusional.

The President of the Nike brand (at least until he retires in January) is a USU alum. As far as I know they haven't thrown much money our way. But at least they were smart enough to give him an honorary Phd. I guess, a little kissing up never hurts. :thumb:

That is simply amazing. The attention to detail is unbelievable. I live in Oregon and have been a fan of both Oregon and Oregon State (Reser's has been pretty darn generous to OSU as well -- but nothing like this).

In the NCAA aftermath, I can't help but marvel at the hypocrisy. A player's mother feeds her son's friends meals, home-cooked I presume, and that is a violation yet UO can provide discounted haircuts, large screen TVs, and places for leisure and that is OK? Tell me how that makes sense.

Isn't that precious...but they didn't have enough money to support their wrestling program they dropped. And yes, there were Montana kids on the team when it happened. :evil:

Wrestling programs aren't being dropped because of money.. being dropped because of Title IX. Wrestling at Wyoming actually makes money.

No longer can a sport be dropped with Title IX cited as the reason. Programs can only be added to meet the gender equity quotas. This was decided in a lawsuit led by Stephen Neal, NCAA champ from Cal State Bakersfield and long time O-lineman for the Patriots. The school must find some other reason.

Athletic Director Pat Kilkenny made the decision, claiming that the decision was his and not ordered by anyone else in the department.

"I felt it was my responsibility to examine all facets of the athletics department and determine how we could improve its operation and fiscal efficiency," he wrote in a release to the media the morning of the decision.
