One Woman's View

This is part of a letter to the editor from the Kaimin. She offers her view of the sexual assault coverage.

"Three: Are we really to blame the Griz football players? I’m going to come out and say that the football players aren’t the main problem of this and we all know it. It’s the ladies. You know the ones I’m talking about; the ones at the parties who are drinking everything they’re handed and wearing far-too-short skirts.

By going to parties, drinking all they can, and acting like they want some, these girls are practically serving the cake to these guys.
What a stupid bitch. Then I guess every girl at the beach deserves and is asking to get raped, bullshite!!! I would guess the girl that wrote this, "if indeed it even is a woman," has never had a date and is ugly as Alpha.

While the tone of this post is a little aggressive I agree mostly with what I quoted. The original letter seems suspiciously man-written.

How about teaching people not to become rapists or child abductors?

How do you teach someone how to not become a rapist or child abductor?
That might be difficult to do before they actually do it, but how about blaming and punishing them rather than their victims. This is why rape victims and victims of sexual assault are scared to come forward. People blame the victims for what happened. I suppose it's a child's fault if they get molested. I mean, babies/toddlers run around in just diapers/underwear all the time. It can't be the child molester's fault. Those kids are asking for it, right?

It is never a womans fault for getting raped. But a woman can take measures to help prevent it.

Ok...go back to the Kaiman article about the girl (Ali somebody) who writes the long article, "It's not my fault..". Now, tell me that a nice girl like that, who likes to get drunk in mixed group parties, get digitalized sex, gives oral sex, naked & drunk numerous times, wonders why she ended up "effed"? Give me a break! If that isn't setting oneself up for permissive sex, I don't know what is. It IS her fault for all she conducts herself in. Was she raped? No, she engaged in all types of foreplay leading up to the "wild thing". I'll bet daddy has already pulled her wild little butt out of school!
She's a helluva role model for the women of UofM.

Personally, I think a few of the people in here are making the University of Montana look bad. I am an NDSU fan in Great Falls (my wife is a Griz fan), and I came on this site because of the reputation the University of Montana has as a football program. I was interested to hear what the fans had to say about how your program is looking this year, but one of the first articles I come across is one that is basically saying it's alright for a guy to rape a woman if she's dressed a certain way. I don't know if any of you supporting rapists have sisters or girlfriends/wives, but I bet you wouldn't be supporting them if it was your sister or girlfriend/wife that had gotten raped. I'm sure I will get ridiculed for being on your site, but I just wanted to give you an outsider's opinion on how this makes your school look.

You need to guard against allowing yourself to think that whatever you disagree with on an athletic message board is the majority view. There is a real tendency not to notice or to discount the reasonable posts and focus on the unreasonable ones. I have noticed this myself while lurking at Bisonville, siouxsports.com, bobcatnation, etc.

Guilt complex???....many guys (and girls) have been with others that are dressed "sexy", or underdressed. They have probably at times taken advantage of the situation, and obviously you would not want to call it rape if you participated.

When I was in Butte, at the dorms, for St Patricks Day one year...a couple guys brought a woman back that was very drunk. Multiple men (I heard 6-8) enjoyed her company for the evening. I would guess that now (and maybe then)it could be classified as rape. She had no clue what was going on, and luckily my roommate brought her back to our room so she could just sleep. In the morning the girl, had no idea where she was or what had happened to her the night before. She wrongly assumed she had come back with one of us. And yes she was underdressed.

Is that rape? Or just a girl that had consumed to much alcohol and to many individuals took advantage of her situation? It can be a fine line, but no father would want his daughter in that situation no matter which line it fell over.

I didn't say that it is the majority view. That is why I said a "few of the people in here". I have a lot of respect for the University of Montana, and I obviously know that the opinions of the few people saying this are not how the majority feels. What I was saying, is that a few of the people in here, although they are not in the majority, are making the University of Montana look bad. I'm sure there are people like this at NDSU, too, and they make NDSU look bad. Whether or not they are in the majority doesn't change the fact that they are making the school look bad. Obviously the majority of people at Penn State aren't child molesters (or whatever Sandusky is), but that made Penn State look very bad.

why shouldn't i be? and what does that have to do with idiot posters from ndsu posting here? geeze, it's a shame "butte tough" has to come with "butte smart".

I was reading this thread and thinking how would I feel about it if it was my daughter or my niece at a party off campus and she has a little too much to drink. Maybe she is there with a nice guy who will look out for her and get her home safely. Maybe she went with her girlfriend and they have gone their separate ways. Maybe she needs a ride home. Maybe some lowlife has dumped some roofies in her drink.

That one really pisses me off.

My take is that Washgrizfan1 is a fraud. Probably some frat prank loser.

Please tell me you're kidding here. COULD BE classified as rape??? This is about 100 miles OVER that "fine line" you assume exists.
