On to 2026

Well I remember the last one was in 2023 after we lost the NC, he told McDowell he would have to compete for the starting job as a senior. And as much as I love Ah Yat, last year would've been perfect if we kept McDowell as the starter and have Ah Yat come in and give him a few series like they did in 2023. In 2023, Ah Yat rose to the backup a little bit after mid season. They allowed him to split some time with Mcdowell in the later half of the regular season. They should've done the exact same last year. But now Ah Yat has more than established himself as the #1 and I agree with you that they shouldn't bring in anyone, but Booby's track record has prove otherwise.

I still hate that we lost McDowell returning, but I also don’t think Ah Yat is quite as dangerous and developed this year under that scenario either.

Keep seeing some people say Ah Yat and Gillman are definitely returning. How definite is that definite? Just give me another NC already!

Are you saying that geography doesn't matter?
That’s not what I said. I was asking @HikeGlacier how much of a recruiting advantage NAU has by having Chandler AZ in their region. He should know how great their teams are. Boulder Creek always gets boatraced when they face one. It doesn’t matter if it is Basha, Chandler or Hamilton. They all boatrace Boulder Creek.

I wanted to answer these questions from my perspective.

13-2 is a good record. I won't take that away from the players. Those guys played their hearts out for us, and pulled out some gutsy come from behind wins.

"Most recognize that Hauck isn't going anywhere". Unfortunately this is true. People believe UM can't attract anyone better. I don't think he has done a bad job, but the absolute fact is, for some reason BH just can't win when it matters the most. I'm not just talking crap. It's backed up by win's and losses.

"Many of those know that he is stubborn so he isn't changing and certainly doesn't give a shit about the egriz rifraf's opinions".
BH is never going to change as a coach and I don't believe he is capable of changing.

"Fans still buy tickets even to shit games that have no chance to be competitive".
The fans deserve better. I would rather see perennially top ten ranked teams or FBS teams on the non-conference schedule than the garbage we have been forced to endure lately. They do nothing for the program.

"Most of the posters refuse to believe UM could attract a better coach even though what happened at MSU directly refutes that".
UM can definitely attract better coaches. Jim Clements, Tony Annese , Paul Simmons, Kerwin Bell, Will Stein, Corey Hetherman, Dan Larson, Grant Olson, they are out there.

"Stop Hammer actually made some excellent points about the AD but we all know he isn't leaving either - Hauck owns him".
Unfortunately you're right. UM needs a new AD. I thought things would get shaken up a little with Seth Bodnar, and he has done a bit, but Haslam is a dinosaur. He needs to go. Honestly, I'd rather see BH promoted to AD.

"Then the same wimp ass non-con schedule other than OSU and I doubt the Big Sky, other that the Cats, will be much of a threat so playoffs are a given".
UM's schedule is weak. There should NEVER be a D2 or OOC team scheduled that isn't FBS or MVFC.

"Many of you say you want to see change but then argue fiercely about changing anything because we are making playoff runs every year which even almost any above average coach could do with the resources UM has".
Man this comment is spot on. It's 1000% true. As a lifelong fan I care about two things, 1) getting to the NC every year, and 2) beating MSU. The Griz won't beat MSU every year. That's ridiculous to think. BUT The Griz have lost too many games to MSU.

"If you think a new strength coach is really going to make a difference good luck with that one".
Uh... the program has way more issues than just a strength coach.

"I'm sure BH and staff are out there today attempting to buy next year's team because he is just enamored with the portal as his savior".
I disagree with this statement. I think BH uses the portal to his and the teams advantage. If it wasn't for the portal, UM wouldn't have been in the playoffs the last three years. Thinking otherwise is sheer folly.

"You fear change more than you fear losing to the Cats or the DSU's so see you here next year with the same complaints".
Yeah, I can't argue this. Too many of the fans are afraid of change... oh no what if they lose? Okay then they lose. Fact of life, you're dying, surviving or moving forward.

Are you going to say NAU has a recruiting advantage because Chandler, Hamilton and Saguaro are some of the best high school football programs in the country? These programs are better than anyone by Davis besides De La Salle and possibly Folsom.
Laughable if you believe they are some of the best programs in the country. Davis could recruit within 100 miles of their campus and get better athletes.

Hauck is not going to bring a QB in to directly compete with Ah Yat. But he does hope every QB on the roster will compete as if they are trying to win the starting job. And he didn’t tell McDowell he would have to start from scratch to get his starting job back. McDowell chased FBS and some money. Had some other reasons as well. But he did not leave because Bobby said he’d have to compete for a job.

And truly every year you should have to “compete” for your job. But for Ah Yat, it’s his to lose. And if he continues to progress he will be the starting QB next year. Bobby wants nothing more than for Ah Yat to be the starting QB of the Griz for the next two years.

I see it like this. QB1 is like a one-mile race and KAY has a 3/4 mile head start. This doesn't assure he wins, but makes it most likely.

That’s just simply false. Like I said De La Salle is better because they are private and recruit the whole region. Folsom might be comparable but their success really started with Troy Taylor so less than 1/4 of the time the school has been open. Terrell Suggs aka T Sizzle put Hamilton High School on the map the first year they opened.

I was not really sure where to post this question, but I am posting it here since I started this one.

What are people’s thoughts on the two Griz players that gestured “lay your head down”, “good night”, or whatever you want to call/say/think that they were doing in what ended up being the targeting call on Harper’s hit on Dowler.

I don’t want to hear what you think of the call, as that is a moot point.

What are your thoughts on the two Griz that made the gesture I mentioned.

It’s a poor reflection of the team but they are college students and not professionals.

I am glad that there were no players that acted like DK Metcalf and that the players didn’t get chippy after the two minute time out when the stadium was doing there 💩 chant.

I now a lot of people on this board disliked a few of the Cat players actions/gestures, after the game in Missoula.

Everyone can decide for themselves what they think is worse. I think the answer for a lot of people would be in correlation to what team they root for, be it Griz or cats.

I didn’t like the Cat players inappropriate gestures, and I didn’t like seeing the two Griz players gesture.

I also don’t believe in sharing the video(s) or mentioning the players names. If people want they can find it for themselves.

We’re not losing Gillman or Ah Yat.
There are a lot of people who know the full extent of the players and coaches and all things Griz football than myself.

As far as Ah Yat, I don’t see him leaving, I posed the question if Gillman leaves would he consider it for a big enough financial gain. Being the son of a former great Montana QB his dream may have always been to play for the Griz.

Gillman being out of Minnesota, I would have a hard time believing, that his dream was to play football for the Griz. He grew up in the Midwest and Big Ten Country.

This next part is a for instance. What if he dreamed about playing for Notre Dame. Their two top running backs will not be returning. He gets offered $1 million to go to Notre Dame. Will he forgo his dream and the money to play his senior year for the Griz.

At this point the above his hypothetical, but at this point the only people that have credibility in him “definitely” returning are him and his parents.

I'm glad you pointed out the gestures. I get tired of the "our guys would never" while people complain about something the other team did.

I don't think Gilman leaves. I think he has some potential to do something really awesome at the next level if he did. But his family loves the program too much to leave. He may be a Midwest kid but you guys have become his family. I would honestly see KaY leaving before Gilman did and I don't see KaY leaving.
