No matter what the findings were, it would be really interesting to see tape of all Sneed's missed throws where he had time. As it sits, we just get "it seems like" and "based on what I saw" stuff.

Maybe there is a video guru on the eGriz who can put something together. Might be a long video though

And I still don't think the problem is all with the receivers. A number of people, including some of the TV/radio commentators, have noted that Sneed needs to work on his "touch," that many of his throws are not very catchable. Sneed also tends to lock on to his receiver, giving the defender a better chance of interfering with the catch.

You guys are all missing the point and that’s my fault for not being clear. I’m not talking about TEs or talent. I’m talking about attitude and fit for this O.
Maybe it’s simply a matter of expectations, but the WRs are a huge disappointment, and to me, a bigger disappointment than the OL. Look at all the excuses you guys just made for the OL. What’s the WRs’ excuse? Just to put it all back on the QB/OL? But that doesn’t explain drops, fumbles, and plain wussyness.
And I have this sinking feeling we can fix the OL faster than WRs. Maybe it’s scheme, but it seems more like attitude to me. They were never meant for this system.
Hooked, I value your opinion more than most in this thread because I think you actually go to the games. Most of the rest in this thread are basing their response on what they hear in this echo chamber or what they see on a little, grainy laptop. Akem is our best WR, and a nice player but, unless something drastically changes, he will not sniff the NFL. His strength is the deep sideline pass—something we can’t even do. That’s not his fault but it shows how misplaced these WRs really are.
Bottom line, I don’t give a shit about stats. Even Mr Chode knows they are for losers. When you get a close up look between UCD’s WRs vs ours, and UCD’s OL vs ours, the WR gap is much more prevalent. I realize Doss (and the rest of their O) is a big reason for that obscene discrepancy but take him out of the picture and their other WRs made ours look meek too.

Seriously, with the play of the OL, how can rest of the offense be fairly evaluated? The OL doesn't give the QB time to go through progressions. The OL doesn't allow time for the QB and WR's to execute the proper routes. It sure would be nice to see if our QB's can actually complete passes against tight coverage and what kind of plays our WR's can make consistently.

The offensive line is mainly to blame for the lack of offensive efficiency and consistency. I honestly believe, putting it on any other group is not right.

I’m more disappointed in our WRs than our OL. The OL we knew was going to suck, but they seem to be possibly improving, at least somewhat, and showing some potential, and better attitude.
The WRs on the other hand have regressed, and I’m not just talking about all the god damned drops and fumbles.
With the exception of Sulser, I bet BH would like to reshuffle the entire deck.
Toure can’t get the routes right, and seems to be half speed most times.
JLM is too small for BH’s O (sorry, I love him too, but it’s true).
Akem has one or two routes, almost nothing inside.
There is no big-body, go-to, possession WR that BH cherished in the past. It was blatantly obvious when I saw Doss up close. Dude is a total beast that we haven’t seen in a long time. Actually, all of their WRs made ours look small and slow.
Truth is, though our WRs have more experience, they do not fit this O. While the OL has less experience, they do not seem as misplaced

i agree that the Griz receivers don't put the fear of God in any defenses'. Highlighted by the fact they of all the single press coverages they are receiving and easily being covered by.

JLM is the same height as Sulser, actually looks taller than Gabe in the WR group photo, and nine pounds heavier when they reported for fall camp. BH has said in four different pressers this season what a GOOD blocker JLM has become. So not sure what you mean by too small, or that BH doesn't want JLM.

Akem is 6-4, 198. He's absolutely a possession receiver. Doss is 6-3, 208. Is Akem Keelan Doss? No, but then again, nobody else in the FCS is either. The Griz' WR are still the LEAST of my concerns. Next year, they'll have JLM as a senior, Toure and Akem as juniors, Roberts as a RS-Soph and Sulser as a sophomore. The Griz WR haven't had a highlight reel season, I agree, but, they do not lack for talent and potential, and they're still young. They're fine, IMHO.

JLM got his ass completely ran over trying to stock block a DB on the WR inside screen to Curran at the end of the PSU game. You know, the drive that UM was driving on to put the game away, but JLM's defender (after putting JLM on his back) made the tackle and Curran fumbled the ball away... and UM instead lost.

I agree the main problem with the O (passing game and running game) is the O-Line, they are missing assignments and they are whiffing (blocking air) when they actually try to get their guy! Even when they get a hat on a hat they are often being manhandled and knocked back allowing disruptive penetration.

Hauck said going into the season that OL was a CONCERN...

Sammy looking phenomenal again. 5 catches for 89 yards and two more TDs (for the 3rd game in a row) and it’s just the start of the 4th. His diving TD catch was fantastic. JLM and Curran playing great today too. Sneed finally getting some time to throw and it makes a huge difference
