Only a handful of folks there. Beautiful day though. My main takeaway is that practices are very high energy, efficient, and lots of yelling. Lots of cussing, lots of coaching. Shann, Justin, and cb coach are the quieter, more laid-back types.
In the 11-11 there was lots of 3-3-5 as has been noted, often with Epperly, the transfer Robertson, and Sandry on the field. Robby will be in the mix too. In turn the offense was mostly pass oriented. I like our qb depth, Tanner Wilson throws some really nice balls, Sneed will be a nightmare in the open field. I feel good about this position.
I wouldn't put much weight on the depth chart at this point. However, Kobey Eaton is getting a lot of reps across from Nash. Won't be surprised if he gets significant time at corner this year. Seems like a more natural position for him than wr. Without pads its hard to judge much because the wr know they won't get hit, but I expect the passing game to be good this year. Lots of use of the TE. Hill is getting lots of looks. He's getting his ass chewed a lot, but he and Bingham are both a big threat in the passing game. I think the coaches see this and are really incorporating them as much as possible. Who knows what the offense will look like by midseason, but wont be surprised if it is fast paced with a passing game that really uses the middle of the field, inside slants, etc. This would be a welcome site from the past few years.
I focused on the o and d line drills. No surprise, our D line should be really tough next year if healthy. I don't know if Eli Alford will redshirt or not, but he is hard to block. Also, Brayden Deming is coming along and should be a good one in the future. On the o-line I was impressed with the walkon Kolton Kleintz (sp?)(6-7 275). Germer's really coaching him up. He's just a freshmen, but I think he'll stick and earn his way into the rotation at some point in the coming years.
Thx for the report! That was much better than mine so I will give you true enthusiasm!
