Ohio St and the Griz

How is ryan day's record, moron? You are very simple and dumb
You're the one who keeps changing your narrative genius.I .pointed out how wrong you were on your quote about Ohio State and their history with Michigan and now you start crying yet again, its right there in black and white

Now you're trying to change it to Ryan day's record against Michigan when called out and proven wrong.. jfc you're soft...if you meant Day's record against Michigan say that or shut it!!!.

...pretty ridiculous to compare anything to powerhouse Ohio ST lost to the Griz...
Griz are not a powerhouse ( since 2012 Pflugad ) Cats are the powerhouse..at
least for now...Hauck has not won any big, titled games ....Ohio St has...

I think Hoops was trying to say we shouldn’t overrreact about UM’s defense giving up a long drive because Ohio State’s possibly the best defense in the country and they still gave up a long drive.

I agree as well. Everybody gives up drives and points in modern football. That specific point is right. But the Griz defense continues to have the same issues. They're bad against the pass (see washington, eastern and dowler, T.) And the chaotic nature and lack of any semblance of gap integrity allows the best o- lines and rushing attacks to gash them. If you have a Gubner who can just collapse the center of the line, it's a better situation, but failing that it's a bad defense for especially fcs football, where the top teams all have dominant offensive line play.
My point about Ohio state was simply that they have more credibility as a staff than hauck 2.0.
I agree that the scheme works best when we have an elite nose tackle and fast and skilled defensive backs to defend the pass. Will they have that personnel next year? I don’t know but the Griz will probably have to get those guys out of the portal if they aren’t already on the team. I don’t think Bobby is going to change the defensive scheme but better recruiting could get the Griz players that fit the scheme better which as you said is paramount for certain positions in the 3-3-5. I think the recruiting issue is somewhat a catch 22 with MSU. More wins against MSU means better in state recruiting which means more future wins against MSU. The opposite has been happening where MSU has been winning the games and most of the Montana recruiting battles.

Hoops original point was about panicking fans calling for a coach to be fired. Ryan day is the coach.
Dont be some dumb. I see its your character, but at least try.

Really? The defending CFP national champ staff doesn't have more credibility than big game Bobby? You may need to reevaluate your new years resolutions with regard to living in an alternate reality.
Bobby is the champion of all champions. Eventual Hall of fame inductee. Won more games in one season than nearly every team in college football. There simply is no comparison. I will let Hoops finish this.

Griz are killing the Cats in the Portal. And Griz are killing Cats in attracting all-Americans from area NAIA and D2 schools. The Cats are doing fine so far, but recruiting a couple more top MT kids each year isn't going to make up for what the Griz are figuring out what to do.

Also, I don't judge MT recruiting based on what a biased Cat fan puts together. He puts together decent info, but he doesn't talk to Griz coaches or know what they are doing and trying to accomplish. Sorry, but I'd take Ah Yat, Gillman, the other young RB's, Davis, Bergen, Peck, Schafer, McConnell (U of Mary), etc. over the several very good Cat MT recruits. Hope Gillman stays. And the lines of Wortham, Wing, etc.

You can't analyze a team or players or recruiting, by just focusing on one thing. You need to look at everything. Just like you can't analyze a game/team based on 1 or 2 drives. You need to look at the whole game. People who don't understand football tend to focus on one or two smaller things and don't look at the big picture. They also tend to have an agenda and a narrative.

If only we could see how these two teams have performed against each other to make some sort of determination on who's doing better. If only we had that ability. Oh well, I guess we'll never know.

We know who is doing better in recent. Just dumb luck by the Cats in some cases. We also know who has won national championship games since 1984. We know which team has gone to semis and champ game the most.

The Portal/NIL is changing things. It has more changes every year. The Cats model is probably going to get overwhelmed by the Portal/NIL. The Cat system may be deemed to be quaint in a few years. Don't speak too soon. The Cat system is grounded in the past. There is no way that 2 or so good MT players can keep up with the Portal in the coming years. NO WAY. Cats better get their champ game this year, because their model will be proven to be outdated.

OSU coach has won a NC, so game over.
Nope, that has nothing to do with the game-ending drive they gave up yesterday to lose the game. The NC didn't save Ohio State from that drive or getting beat.

Your knowledge of football is nonexistent. You are another young punk, probably going nowhere in life.

With all due respect, in what way is a championship in 2001 relevant to the discussion? Different coach, different rosters, different rules.

Now, we could look at how Hauck has done against MSU in his return, which is a record of 2-6.

We could also look at how Hauck has done since the transfer portal started, (2018), which is also 2-6.

We could look at how Hauck has done against Vigen, which is 2-4.

I don't think recruiting HS players and developing them will over go out of style at the lower levels of football. Obviously every program is going to bring in transfer players, but hell dude, we just saw MSU replace the majority of their team, only bring in a few players, and they're in the national championship game. You may call that dumb luck all you want, but dumb luck isn't that consistently good. And there's more than 2 good MT players a year, but by all means, I hope Montana ignores them like they have. Just imagine where you would have been if Junior Bergen hadn't switched schools after Choate left.

I think your posts make a strong case that it might still be too early to draw a firm conclusion that getting more contributing players from high school than the portal is a better approach. The portal is still fairly new and changes year to year so the long term outcomes are not fully known yet. In this sense, the Griz are embracing the changing landscape of college football rather than resist it, which could pay dividends over time. I can see valid points on both sides of the discussion, but I agree that we are probably not far enough into the portal era to definitively say which model is better. Going off of how the portal is evolving so much, just because one model was better in the past or is better currently doesn’t mean that model is still or will continue to be better than the other.

The first paragraph of this post is great. The second paragraph detracts from the excellent point you made in the first.
