Ohio St and the Griz

Some thoughts on this after watching the game. Miami executed a perfectly timed, high efficiency drive. They went 10 plays and 70 yards in 5 minutes. That is great offense rather than just sloppy defense. Ohio State's defense had been on the field for most of the second half, and the fatigue started to show. Even elite defenses struggle when the offense is methodical, mixes run and quick passes, and uses the clock effectively. Miami neutralized Ohio State's pass rush with quick release throws and smart route combos, hitting the seams where OSU's coverage was stretched. The touchdown at the end wasn't a defensive meltdown as you described it. It was a well executed, low error offensive drive. Miami's drive was a masterpiece of timing, play calling and execution. It was not a defensive meltdown for the ages.

“mthoops/PlayerRep/Jack is so full of sh*t and is just so unlikable, too. He was even bragging about texting players while they were on the bus after getting their asses kicked in Bozeman. I’m sure they were thrilled to hear from a 70 year-old groupie just so he could feel some validation and then post about it.”

As I said, just what Cats did to Griz. Thanks for supporting my point.

I agree with you on the defense. If you look through my posts I have been saying they were pretty good and to not let specific moments like the drive in the game against the Cats make you forget they were pretty good overall.

Ohio St has had one of the best defenses in the country in recent history. 12-0 this season and then a loss to Indiana in the Big 10 championship. And a loss to Miami tonight. And out of the playoffs.

10 play, 70 yard, 5 minute drive by Miami at end of game where Miami got a TD. Why couldn't/didn't Ohio St stop them?

Fire the coach. Fire the DC. Have a meltdown for the ages. This just can't happen. It only happens to teams like the Griz.
Also, day can wave a national championship ring around. That helps.

His point that giving up a long drive doesn’t automatically mean the defense is bad I agree with. I don’t think the national championship ring is relevant to that.

Yeah - coach has to go. I bet their NIL is not transparent. Their AD will never fire the coach who loves to fish, is mean to the press, and under-recruits Ohio.

I bet their entire team hits the portal because their strength coach stinks and podcasters told the fan base a few weeks ago. I did see one of the podcaster get on line and post - I told you...a few seconds after the game.

Anything else?

Ohio State won a national championship last year. Had they not, OSU is having a completely different conversation because Day hadn’t been able to beat Michigan. This was huge news before they went on their run. Not apples to apples in my opinion.

The difference in the game were the trenches. Miami was better on both sides. Weird that formula is still a recipe for success.

That’s not the subject. The subject is the defense and long drive.
Hoops:

C’mon man! You know we would have stopped that long drive in the Cat 1 game this year if we only had more Montana recruits-kidding.

I guess some folks search for any pretext to use for their smear against Coach Hauck. You might have to put your barrister hat on and explain the concept to your egriz foil…

How many national championships have they won recently ? Did they get blown out like the Griz ? How is the overall quality of their recruiting program? Do they have a quality strength coach? Do they have a nutritional program? Some coaches just need to be replaced.

Don’t know. I don’t follow them.

If only UM had a better nutrition program, which I belief we already do, there would be rings everywhere.

I agree as well. Everybody gives up drives and points in modern football. That specific point is right. But the Griz defense continues to have the same issues. They're bad against the pass (see washington, eastern and dowler, T.) And the chaotic nature and lack of any semblance of gap integrity allows the best o- lines and rushing attacks to gash them. If you have a Gubner who can just collapse the center of the line, it's a better situation, but failing that it's a bad defense for especially fcs football, where the top teams all have dominant offensive line play.
My point about Ohio state was simply that they have more credibility as a staff than hauck 2.0.

If you don't even know about the team then why start another garbage thread like this. My god man you need to move someplace where they have no internet access.
