OFFICIAL! Montana vs UNI Game Thread

It's the first game. Yes, lots to work on but Bobby's teams always get better throughout the season and there's no reason to think this team won't do the same. I thought the Griz would lose this game so I am thrilled.

There was a game last year that went almost exactly like this. The Griz rolled in the first half barely held on or maybe even lost. Don’t remember which it was. Hauck was out-coached in the second half.

If only he’d have worn a green hat. He could have been out-coached both halves.

This was the best special teams play anyone has seen in four or more years. Minus flowers mess up, it was the difference in this game.

Flowers mess up
JLM fielding a punt (unprotected) inside the 5 yard line
A man short on the punt formation (Robertson)
Williams only gets off a 35 yard punt when field position was critical at the end
And there were a couple others that escape me....all in the last 10 minutes.

A) several times Sneed took off even with a perfect pocket formed around him.
B) Running game...absent
C) Clock management...if they’d have managed the clock better the two drives BEFORE the last one there wouldn’t have BEEN a last one....
D) Special teams...looked like Stitt came back about 3 minutes into the 4th quarter to coach special teams...never seen so many basic mistakes made in such a short time....
E) Refs weren’t anything special, but god DAMN that was a piss poor spot on the 4/17 play. Isn’t that challengable?
Yep. As someone else pointed out earlier, there's gonna be some major-league butt-chewing when Special Teams get together next week. ;)

ST was stellar in the first half and fell apart in the second. It'll get cleaned up.

Congratulations on the W. Didn't get to see or hear the game, but the outcome is fun. BSC 2 MVFC1 . Yes NDSU trounced Cal Poly.

My defensive game ball goes to Dante Olson. Beast mode out there today.

Offensive game ball goes to Sneed. Well done under the bright lights.

+ two FBS wins. Not a bad weekend at all for the beleaguered BSC.

Thrilled with this? You get that tingly feeling up your leg?

Congrats to the griz, they looked absolutely dominant in the first half. Second half had some issues and it ended up being an entertaining game.

I won’t pretend I was rooting for the griz, but give credit where credit is due, great win for the Big Sky against one of the better teams from the Missouri Valley.

The griz did what they had to, to win. They are young and will only get better as the year rolls on (especially the oline). Glad to see Sneed complete 3 clutch passes at the end. We will only get better from here.

I was happy the receivers finally remembered they were supposed to actually catch and hold on to the dang ball!! Better late than never I guess!

Yep. Thrilled... Keep your nasty Cat mind off my body parts.

Bobby's going to have the Griz back in national prominence and the Cats will continue to languish in mediocrity.

Except that strange series late in the 4th when two key passes were inexplicably dropped. Other than that they did a great job all day.

"Clutch" is almost too weak a word. If UNI gets their hands on the ball one more time ... well, maybe the D will step up one more time, but (all things considered) it's better that they didn't have to.

Great win by a very young Griz team! Could they have played better, of course. Did young players make young player mistakes, of course. That was Northern Iowa over there not the Blachington School for the First Time footballers, credit where credit is due. I think the attitude was excellent, the execution needs work. Calhoun looked the part of a real CB, and the O-line who were so inexperienced they'd only ever seen football on TV will only get better. Drake are going to wish they had gotten to play Jewel or Bjork or whomever they were cancelled against today.
