This was a damned good game. The Griz showed up. The offside kick did it to us. If not for that bad, disastrous call on Canada in the 1st QTR, we'd have won this game. Jordan DID NOT fumble that ball.
I don't think the ball traveled 10 yards on the onside kick. We shouldn't have touched it.

This!

The didn't give a lot of replays but I think you are correct.

We need a national search for a real coaching staff. Tye, Rosie, Delaney should be paid off and dismissed before further embarassment.............worst job of coaching by a Griz team ever!!! Mick was a great mentor but a horrible head coach. Season is over!!
BS!
We are young and inexperienced. We will improve. That improvement will be in spite of delaney though. Nice guy, but not a quality head coach.

Not even sure what to say at this point. I was worried about this game starting last Saturday. If we could cover the pass, throw down field more and cut out turn overs and make coaching adjustments in the 2nd half we might have something going. We got the run game at least at this point. I fear we are just to one demintinial this year.

I have a bad feeling that this year might come out worse than the 2010 season.

When is the last time we lost two conf games in a row?

That game was a big kick to the balls! Combine that with last Saturday, man. We surely will see what our boys and coaches are made of from here on out.

Great game to you EWU, you guys put up one heck of a fight and won.

Holy smokes for everyone's pessimism on the outlook for the rest of the season. With how much parity there is in the Big Sky Conference this year, anything could happen. The Griz are very capable of winning their next 5 games. If they do, I think it will come down to beating Montana State to solidify us a playoff bid. Last year the CAA sent FIVE teams to the playoffs with James Madison having a record of 7-4. There is no more room error and I hope the Griz can get on a roll and head into the Brawl of the Wild with momentum and knock off the Cats and it will be happy days for us again.

Before you son of bitches take out Daddy's shotgun, beat hell out of your wives or declare this is the end of the Grizzly football game as we know it, grab some perspective.

I agree our players are young and inexperienced but so are our coaches. There were a hell of a lot of positives to be taken away from this ball game. We put up over 400 yards on the best D in the Big Sky. Hurts to lose but the Griz have a quality team and we are going to get some wins this year. With so many people coming back we're going to be lights out 2013 & 2014. The loses this season hurt but they give us some good experience for a very talented young crew. You can be a cry baby bedwetter or just realize what many people have said on this board before the season, we are young and this will be challenging year.

Go Griz!!

Let's not start ragging on our coaches. OK? They are good coaches, more committed to the Griz winning than we are. They make their living, such as it is, doing this. Leave 'em alone. They are going to be here for the season & they don't need people sh*ting on them. The mark of a fan base is holding to a positive belief that the next game will be better, and supporting, not tearing down the coaches and players.

The Griz showed up far better to a top-notch team than I thought they would, and they lost this game by a literal bounce of the ball and bad call in the 1st QTR that negated a possible Griz TD. Hats off to the Griz coaches and players. It was a very good game. I have great hopes for the Griz rest of this season.

It seems obvious that this team can't defend the pass. How open EWU's recievers were was just disgusting. I find it highly unlikely that this team can run the table. Why is there no downfield passes? This boggles my mind. People may say "the sky is falling!" Well it fell. Right on tampon field. I think we might be lucky if we win three more games. As much as it saddens me to say. This coaching staff needs to pull their heads out of it if we are going to win against Northern Colorado. Northern Colorado! What has F@#%ing happened!?!?

I agree with most of what you are saying, but are you trying to imply that Mick is new to this game? I have no problems with the assistants actually given the youth they are working with, but Mick should know better than to make some of the decisions he has.

Fair enough, Champ. I think we can only hope Coach D did learn some things tonight. Old dogs can/should be able to learn new tricks. We all know the adage, only a fool doesn't learn from their mistakes.

Great game, bad outcome. Great game to watch, congratulations to EWU. As for the GRIZ, youth and experience (coaching and players) are hurting this team. No more room for error. The GRIZ have to run the table, and see how the MSU game turns out.

The running game, and our Front 7 were great. Turnovers, a blotched xp, horrible clock management, and passive defensive secondary, strategy and play were all pathetic. Those things caused the GRIZ the game.

I will give Canada a break, that was an absolutely horrible officiating. Peter Nguyen, no excuse or slack for his fumble. Turnovers have killed the GRIZ in every loss this year. The fumbles are on the players, not the coaching staff. Overall, I cannot fault the staff for sticking with the running game, we were dominating, no reason to pass then. With that said, I question a few things offensively.
(1) where is consistent middle of the field passing? We next to never utilize that area.
(2) Accepting to take a 3 and out, with that much time on the clock? WTF?
(3) Ending the 1st half without at least trying to put a FG on the board, with 2 time outs to use, WTF?
(4) Ty, wth is with passive secondary, Especially safety play? The only bright spot in the secondary is Goodwin. How many safety mistakes do these guys get to make before they are pulled?

EWU is a damn good team, so there are some positives.
(1) The running game and OL play was absolutely dominating, and got their attitude back.
(2) McKinney made excellent decisions in the read option, and took care of the ball. That will go a long way in this development. McKinney looked calm most the game. Even though he could not pull out the W on the last drive, I liked seeing him move the ball like he did on the last drive.
(3) Front 7 applied very good heat, and shut down the running game.
(4) Canada is getting back into game shape, and the rust is almost gone.

This team can run the table if they take better care of the ball, gets more aggressive in the secondary, we utilize the middle of the field more, and please get the ball to our bigger WR's and TE's. The GRIZ are beating themselves. Quit handing teams the ball and taking points off the board for us, this team is not that far off, and still very good.

Safe trips to everyone on the way back from EWU.

Well this is going to be a great cat griz this year. Were going to get our dick$ stomped in the dirt in Missoula. Awesome.

Why not sleep it off and come back fresh in the morning. The Griz will win out the rest of the way. Trust me.

Ok OK lets give old Mick a free pass.........

Not implying that at all. I expect growth and lessons to be learned. The offensive plays/taking the foot off the gas were likely on Rosey. The time outs were a bad decision, no doubt that is on Mick as well as the decision to not go for 2. Which was inconsequential in the end.

I won't lay the blame on the offense. You lose Dan Moore and still rush for over 400 yards and put up a two score lead with 6 to play, you've managed the game well enough to win.
The defensive scheme is terrible. Those cover 3 and cover 4 shells are so soft they leave huge open zones between the backers and the safeties and leave nice triangles of open space between the cb, sideline and safety. We should call it coach Ty's MAGIC SHELL defense because it's where leads vanish.
Maybe Ty doesn't trust his players, but it sure looks like he trusts his own play calling even less.

What is this "secondary" of which you speak?
