Offensive Coordinator

Brent has absolute brilliant football mind. He was thought of very highly by Petersen at Boise State. After his stint at Florida he was hired back at Washington. He has worked at Baylor as well. When Don Read took over our program he moved Brent (to quarter back his senior year. He went on to be drafted by the Vikings. He is areally great guy but like a lot of people his immaturity has held him back in the past. But I believe just like Bobby he has matured a lot. Let’s give him the Benifit of the doubt. He would be better than Rosie and I have no axe to grind there. Go Griz

This is the truth. His latest gig was the head coach's fault. Insist on running when you don't have a good line or a good back and you lose.

I always thought it was strange that Peterson brought Pease back to coach receivers at UW and then let him go in early December before their bowl game two years ago. The comments in this article are fairly generic, but at least it gives some reason. Generally speaking, it is strange to fire a receivers coach with only a bowl game remaining.

https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/uw-husky-football/uws-chris-petersen-explains-his-dismissal-of-receivers-coach-brent-pease/

Chris Petersen described his decision to fire his longtime assistant Brent Pease as difficult but necessary.

In a news release Friday, Petersen announced Pease’s dismissal as the Huskies’ receivers coach. On Sunday, Petersen addressed the decision for the first time.

“(It was) hard,” Petersen said. “I think you guys know, I go way back with him, and he is a really good person, and he’s a good football coach. But just without getting into too much detail, just kind of a new vision for what I think it should look like out there, and a new energy. I think that would help us. And it really kind of came down to that.”

For the second year in a row, the Huskies’ offense ranks 10th in the Pac-12. UW’s receivers were largely inconsistent for much of the season while the Huskies broke in a new starting quarterback for the second straight year.

Petersen was asked if the performance of the receiving corps was a primary factor in Pease’s dismissal.

“Absolutely,” Petersen said. “At the end of the day, every coach, including myself, is evaluated on the performance of the guys on the field. That’s not the only thing, but do we think we can take a step there? And is the performance what it needs to be? That’s no different for me and we think we all have more to us on this deal, and we think we’re heading in the right direction, but we’ve got to get to the right destination — not just head in that direction.”

Here's another story about Brent's dismissal at UW:

Wide receivers coach Brent Pease is out at Washington.

In a news release, UW coach Chris Petersen announced Pease’s firing Friday afternoon.

“Coach Pease and I have worked together for a long time and I have tremendous respect for him as a person, and as a football coach,” Petersen said in a statement. “However, I have decided that a fresh start with this position group is needed to give our team the best chance of reaching its full potential. I am grateful for his contributions and wish him all the best moving forward.”

The two-year contracts for UW’s other seven remaining assistant coaches expire at the end of January. Petersen has said previously that staff continuity is important to him.

The Huskies’ offense struggled again this season, finishing 10th in the conference in total offense for the second year in a row. Drops were an issue at times for UW’s receivers and on multiple occasions this season Petersen lamented the lack of big plays created by the receivers around freshman quarterback Jake Browning.

“At times our pass protection is not what it needs to be, and so you can go there, Jake can’t set his feet and he’s got to get out of there all those times,” Petersen said on Nov. 16. “At times the ball’s right on the money and we get some drops. At times, they’re kind of 50-50 balls — ‘OK, let’s go make a play.’ So it’s kind of a little bit of all those type of things in our pass game. And I think at times, it looks pretty good. And at times it’s like, ‘What are we doing here?’”

Petersen also said late in the season that Browning was “not the limiting factor” for the Huskies’ offense.

UW’s leading receiver this season, senior Jaydon Mickens, ranked 15th in the Pac-12 with 49.8 yards per game. UW’s next two leading receivers, based on yards per game, were a tight end (Joshua Perkins) and a running back (Dwayne Washington).

In 2014, while also breaking in a first-year starting quarterback (Cyler Miles), UW did not have a single receiver rank in the top 25 in the Pac-12 in receiving yards per game.

He may not be a great WR coach? The article talks about a lot of dropped balls. Maybe he forgot to tell them to CATCH those passes? lol

I like BP, “Brilliant Mind”, now I’m scared, considering we just lost a genius.

I have a better chance of being Hauck’s OC than Robin Pflugrad does.

It’s never going to happen.

I kind of figured the assistants being retained would be publicly known by now. Presumably Green and Germer. Someone on here has said Bonnicksen and Nicholson sounded like they would be retained. It makes sense for the ones Hauck is going to keep them to get them on the road recruiting and letting the others move on to other opportunities. Maybe that has happened but it'd be nice to get some public word. It seems we get kept in the dark a lot.

I am guessing Green is staying as he is out traveling with Bobby doingnin state recruiting. I suppose you never know but I would think he is staying.

You’re really struggling to get over Stitt....it’s funny to watch every post you make go directly his way....

I will always back the HC at UM, but if Pease is the choice, Bobby will learn that this is a BIG mistake.

It might take as long to get over Stitt, as it took for him set back the program.

Wait a minute, does that mean you know who it's gonna be, or that you only know who it isn't gonna be?

It is Rosenbach. Bank it.

It appears that Rosenbach has left Adams State as HC, which probably means he is headed to Missoula.

Well, I guess it's good that he wasn't their defensive coordinator this season. :)

BLACK HILLS STATE - LOST 41-47
WESTERN STATE COLORADO – WON 51-14
FORT LEWIS – WON 34-27
CHADRON STATE – LOST 26-73
SD SCHOOL OF MINES & TECH – WON 52-44
CSU – PUEBLO – LOST 17-63
WEST TEXAS A&M – LOST 14-17
COLORADO MESA – LOST 21-70
DIXIE STATE – LOST 28-54
COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES – LOST 24-52
NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS – WON 48-41

Averaged 32 points on offense, gave up an average of 46 on defense.

Yeah, wow, he beat the two worst teams in the RMAC, who combined for a 3-19 record. So let me get this straight - you fire Stitt, who took a perennial loser in Colorado Mines and made them a top RMAC team, but you hire Rosenbach, whose 3 year record in the same conference is 9-23? I guess Bobby Hauck is a miracle worker? :?
