UPDATE

Here's my rant and then I'm done! The University has botched this whole sexual assault situation. Everything has been done by the court of public opinion, even when no charges have been filed. They're trying to skirt around the whole process with the "Student Code of Conduct" There is absolutely no "Due Process" for any of the accused, whether the complaint is legitimate or not.

Myself, I will not be further supporting the University of Montana in any way. If I could get a refund on my football tickets, I would. The person that needs to go is the President of the University first! :thumb:

which president goes, our former who focused on building an empire of buildings and complicit with a lot of this for years on end, or Engstrom who inherited this monster program and its mess...

why stop there, regents????

what a sorry affair for staff, players, those litigating victims...and the list goes on

Why isn't Engstrom under any heat for this? These players are STUDENT athletes. If this would have happened when on a trip while under the supervision of coaches than that would be a different story but this happened when the coaches had no control over the players. He is the president for a reason, is it not his job to control the students. What about the student accused of rape that fled the country? Why isn't Engstrom fired for that? He is suppose to be in control of students and obviously he doesn't. In my opinion, this should fall on Engstrom, not Pflu and O'Day. These players are students first and this happened when they were not participating in anything to do with football. Fire Engstrom, not Pflu and O'Day.

This is gross. I feel really bad for the players that have been doing things the right way and now have to go through this crap. Sad day in Montana for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same for the coaching staff, especially the newer additions, who have been working to make the situation better.

No.

"The day the music died." We are now in the national limelight for all the wrong reasons. It will take a long time to right this ship. So sad!

DISAPPOINTING TO SAY THE LEAST WOW!!! http://billingsgazette.com/news/state-and-regional/montana/university-of-montana-fires-football-coach-athletic-director/article_d5953c11-f406-500b-8ec3-9071daa76ef0.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Glad Bennett & Arbuckle are there, but I am absolutely shocked!

Does anyone specifically why they were fired? The assumption is that it is related to the sexual misconduct issue, but what triggered this rather abrupt event?

My guess is the president didn't like Phflu's comments about JJ and wanted him fired, then Mr. O'day refused to do so. Do the president fired them both. Just a guess though.

So what is the status of the assistant coaches? Who is running the rest of spring practice?

Fair weather fan...

I take it one too many minor issues over the years became one big issue. This is a definite rough patch, but UM will be fine.

Coincidence they waited until two day before season ticket renewels???? But that being said...this crap happens...it happened with Hauck here and the crimes of some of his players and the ignoring the media BS! It's always been here but now it's in the national limelight because of Penn State! To say your support is done is complete fair weather fan, the U and the Griz need our support now more than ever! Or we can count on decades of decline rather than a year or two of a rough spot...

It seems to me the number of player issues has expanded greatly with the new head coach. I have been wondering if Pflu is not a strong enough discipliarian and the players are not concerned of the consequences if they get out of line. I suspect the players feared coming back to practice if they did something under Hauck.
That being said, it is time for all of us Griz fans to buck up and unite to help the U of MT and our student athletes. Anything less is just being a fair weather fan.

Pflu may or may not be the best disciplinarian, but the chain of events, the so called culture of Griz football started before Pflu was hired.

This reminds me of the Kramer firing. In that Roots getting arrested and the next morning head coach is fired. Same thing happened with Kramer. Last straw.
