Don't totally remember who was on which team, but at half the PGs (DeShields & Gregory) and the Bigs (Hutchison & Martin) switched colors.
1st Half:
Seemed like the offense didn't really gel in the first half, both colors seemed to lack intensity (or maybe the defense was just playing really well). Seemed like maybe the more experienced players (Jamar, and Ward) were holding back a bit to let the younger guys play a little more
2nd Half:
Lots of threes in this half. I think Gregory hit 2 treys, Jamar hit 2, and Ward had at least 1 three pointer. DeShields had some nice assists to Martin. Shooting was much better this half. There were some wild plays though, as the team started to pick up the tempo a bit.
And I'll do a run down of each players performances (I've included what stats I could find):
Coleman: 12pts, 12 rebounds, 2/4 on 3 pointers
I thought he played very well. Stats say he go a double-double on 12pts 12rebounds. I definitely noticed him going for the rebounds, even on the offensive end (he cleaned up some other people's messes on bad shots). Took some threes, but missed them. He also did a good job planting and drawing offensive fouls. I think in an actual game he would have been in foul trouble though.
DeShields: 9 pts
Did not have as impressive a game as Gregory in my opinion, but he did have a couple of beautiful passes to Martin for Slam Dunks. Very vocal when running the offense. I was also happy to see him on the court after the news of his eye injury.
Gregory: 18 pts, 6/10 shooting
He has improved a lot from what limited playing time he saw last year. GoGriz.com said he had 18 points in the scrimmage on 6-10 shooting. I want to say he knocked down 3 or 4 threes, and there was no hesitation in his shot. He also had some nice jumpers that were under pressure that he scored on too. While it will be nice to have Cherry back, I was thoroughly impressed with Gregory.
Henderson:
Did not get too much production tonight. I think he committed a couple of fouls too.
Hutchison: 9 pts, 7 rebounds
He looked improved from last year. There were still a few plays that he punched the pass away on, but it looked better than last year. Missed a few shots he definitely should have made. One example of this is when he waited, so his shot wouldn't get blocked but then missed the shot when no one was challenging him. Better at not fouling on defense now too. Also drew some offensive fouls.
Jamar: 14 pts
Looked like the same player that we saw at the end of last year :thumb: . Didn't notice him as much in the first half, but he started hitting treys in the second half.
Martin: 7 pts, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks
A bit raw, but did an excellent job finishing, and going for rebounds. Definitely would have fouled out in an actual game though. Had a good defensive post presence
Ward: 13 pts
I really didn't notice him much except for on defense in the first half. However, in the second half he started knocking shots down and helped extend maroon's lead.
Weisner: 6 pts, 3 assists, 3 steals
Hit some nice three in the 1st half, I want to say that on every three he scored he had a hand in his face. He can definitely create some mismatches on the perimeter, seemed to do a good job defensively also as he had a couple of steals
Wiley: 4 pts, 6 rebounds
I could see his athleticism, but he seemed a bit wild tonight. At one point he forgot to inbound the ball after a basket, and the other players had to tell him to get back there. I think if he learns to calm down a bit he will do well.
Young:
He played hard, but I don't know if he made a basket all night.
