Gogriz.com has 11 listed OL returning, without Schmaing, 12 with Schmaing. Schmaing, would be the only SR. The GRIZ will have a lot of JR's of the unit. Add in 2 from PL's list, that brings the GRIZ to 13 or 14. Ideally, I'd like the GRIZ to be at 15 OL. Keep in mind, we don't know everyone our staff is looking at, and won't know until signing day. Also maybe the kids we did lose had a great relationship with Gragg. It is understandable in losing a few recruits due to his departure.

Worse case, we don't add anymore OL this season, we have enough OL going into the season. To make the numbers work, should the GRIZ just be throwing out offers to anyone that can play OL, even if they may not be FCS caliber? Also it is very possible the staff can target more and better OL in the next class. Is it next year the GRIZ get back the 4 scholarships to use? It is very possible there has been communication with potential BCS transfers, who will be waiting until the school year is over, or seeing how the depth charts play out at their current BCS school this spring.

In my opinion, I'd rather have a BCS transfer to fill the depth this season, than a questionable FCS level incoming FR. Also, this is BIG G trying to stir the pot against Stitt. Big G has done nothing but bitch about this hiring from the beginning. He has alternate motives than just being concerned about this recruiting class. I wish Big g honored his bet and not comeback to grace Egriz with his presence.

The GRIZ will be fine at OL!!!
Oh gawd, you are such a bore. How many threads are you going to start just to hear yourself post? You act like you are such a guru and the 5000 word posts you drone on and on about have a thimble full of information. Please show me where I accepted any bet? Quit making personal attacks pal I am reporting this to the mods.

Feel free to report me for nothing. I am sure they will laugh at this reporting too. :thumb:

Nothing is right, thats all you are.

It looks like the Griz actually have 4 linemen... 2 for sure and 2 more that are in their sights. That said my "concern" over the "beef" in this class is officially gone.

Back on topic, remember, Schlichting changed his commit along with Neale, so right there, the Griz originally had four highly-touted offensive lineman committed at one point. So any notion that they aren't at least "trying" to stock this class with o-linemen is just plain stupid. To echo what Brint said, I expect at least one more OL to be named in this class on signing day.

I'm much more CONCERNED with the DT and CB positions, as it relates to future depth. Again, UM appeared to try hard to get a future replacement for Tonga in this class and it just hasn't worked out. I don't think Ena will sign on Wednesday, so unless there is someone we don't know about, the DT position and the CB position are the only areas I feel like this class may have fallen short.

The biggest help we are getting is Germer as coach. Lurch is a nice guy, but you will see a vastly improved O line due in large part to the coaching change.[/quote]

Couldn't agree more...

Why do you think Ena won't sign? Was there something that came up that suggested he wont?

We've got 4 linemen that are hopefully going to be added so that should be solid.

CB is a worry as well - although we have a ton of young corners. (McKinley, Parker, Garner, Nelson, Moody, & our one senior Harris).

4 OL would be great. DT seems to be a tough position to recruit as well. With all the athletic wrs that are being brought in we could possibly convert one of those to cb if need be. I'm having a tough time thinking all these guys are going to be happy with their touches come game day.

It is definitely hard to fathom getting Jamal Jones, Ellis, Jannson, Burke, and a number of these younger guys all enough touches to keep them happy. We will be operating with a completely different offense though, which is designed to keep them fed. If it can be done we should be in good shape!

The real mismatch wil be other teams d lines against our o line. Griz are severely lacking o line talent and we will not get much on Wednesday from the look of things.

Up to 4 OL recruits = not much?

Ok....

Lokingat paytons list there is only one o lineman that has committed, why is there no help at that spot? You need time to get the ball to all the Wr's and Qb's we have. Last year should have turned the light on. It is no surprise that o line and defense is not being looked at from the gimmick head coach. Coach Hauck always addressed those things first because defense wins championships.

And he won how many? :shit:
The same number as Stitt.

"We're going to have the toughest O-line in FCS", so sayeth Bob Stitt at his first press conference. However, he didn't include a time table in his prediction/statement.

Would you expect him to? "we will have the toughest O-line in the country by xx/xx/xxxx" seems pretty odd, the statement in itself should be sufficient. He made it a point to bring back Germer, arguably the best O-line coach we have ever had, that in itself should make it apparent that Stitt knows the significance of having a dominant O-line.

I read an article once that quoted one of his assistants saying that Stitt really empowers his assistants, not one to micro-manage, which is a great quality in any leader. Considering this is true, Germer is in charge of the O-line...I think between Stitt and Germer I think our O-line will be pretty damn good. By when? Doesn't matter, new coaches and new offense, nobody knows when they will peak, but I am confident that it will happen.

Big G...I am still waiting to get your opinion on the Griz O-Line...

Yes, and I am also unclear on statler and waldorf's opinion(s) of the new coaching staff. Could you clarify that for me? Either of you, statler or waldorf, or both? Thank you.

Yes we are looking to get the two verbals and the two other youngsters we know about.

Not long ago I found out we were also looking at some potential transfers at O-Line. Have not heard anything on the transfers either way. Same with two D-Line guys and a running back.

Tomorrow will solve some mystery but we will continue to pick up kids afterwards. Having extra beef on the line both ways is all good if we can get them....big beef costa lota.
