I spoke with someone at UM about this today and was told GSA Membership is at record levels, season ticket sales were ahead of last year. Soooo, how exactly is the sky falling? At the end of the day, the "investigation" may find some issues, but I don't believe Grizzly Athletics is where the issues are going to be found. I would be more concerned if I was Engstrom, Couture, and maybe the new Commissioner of Higher Ed as he seems to have been direclty quoted about something that is not true at all. Personally I welcome the damn thing because if you have nothing to hide, in the end you should be vindicated. If they uncover some misdeeds, then deal with them and those respponsible. :twocents:

Your post about the eunuch that somehow ended up as the Commisioner of Higher ED is true. When he asserted that MPD had prior knowledge of the Saudi suspect he is either misinformed or flat out lying.

A bigger question is why the Board of Regents hired this guy who has no experience in higher education, just an owner of a failing title business who happened to be on said board. This is actually far more important than a football program. This clown has no business holding the highest paid job in state government. I was not always a great fan of Stearns, she at least had the career chops to hold this position. That he holds this job should and how it came about IS a scandal. Gwen might want to start digging...

Disagree that it will last very long, the Khardashians will do something stupid and Missoula will be an afterthought and people reading the NYT don't give a rat's ass about Montana unless they are cruising the real estate section.
I have to agree with this, but bet your bottom dollar that competing recruiters have saved the link to send to prospect's parents as we move along.

Agree 100 per cent.

I just heard the NPR news this evening and of course they said the controversy centers on the Grizzly football team. In my mind the issue is institutional and systemic and greater than the football team. Although the football team is involved it seems to me it is becoming the lightning rod and not just a part of the greater issue of institutional ineptness. Although football players have assaulted women, not all football players assault women. Male students have assaulted women, but not all male students assault women. The issue is with the adults not following protocol and keeping students safe. This stuff is happening everywhere young men and women are together and unsupervised and they have access to drugs and alcohol. It's happening in high schools everywhere, colleges and the military. If U of M becomes the poster child for how to run an institution that deals with sexual assault correctly than so be it but in the process don't group punish a bunch of innocent student athletes for the incompetence of the adults running the show.

Great post. :thumb:

Hey weirdo, what I said above is absolutely correct. When I said, "there is no way", I said there was no way that the feds could have a gripe about what was done, not there's not way something didn't occur. Learn to read, you weirdo. Someone told me you've had some involvement with sexual assault. If so, that would explain some of your posts on this subject. NWF, the Weirdo.

You don't know what the feds could have a gripe about, and you look foolish. Even more so now that you've stooped to the level of accusing me of engaging in sexual assault. I'm not the one trying to excuse, explain, spin, or dismiss all of the allegations.

That would be you, Jack. Stop embarrassing yourself.

I'm fine with my information. The investigation has started, and it includes interaction with multiple local people, and note that local MT US Attys office is also involved. I have followed this matter fairly closely, so I know alot more than a troll like yourself. I thought your work was involved or sometimes involved sexual assault. Maybe we confused you with another poster.

Engstrom is talking about the Fed investigations right now at the BOR meeting which is streaming online.

Is he talking about lynch mobs, 7-0 votes, and Obama conspiracies to explain it all?

Ummm ... no, that's not what I was saying GinW.

I'm saying that a woman was quoted in that article expressing opinions that were, in the minds of most, racist, and people were upset by that.

When somebody says (paraphrasing) we shouldn't recruit black players and we should instead just recruit local white boys, because local white boys aren't dangerous like those scary black players, it's not an "allegation." Instead, it's an opinion. An opinion that I remember many people being quite put off by.

You and I have vastly different recalls about those threads. So be it.

Talk about revisionist history, and a bad memory, by the Cat. Wow!

I think you have enough fires going on already that you really don't need to try to get in a gratuitous jab on this sub-topic ... especially when what I said was, you know, right. Just stick to doing what you do for Griz football, Jack. :thumb:

Everything I say about Griz athletics is factual, and could be backed up. As I've often said in the past, I cheat. I often go directly to the source and ask, if I don't already have direct or almost direct information.

PlayerRep... smarter than the average bear... ahem, grizzly.

Hey, cool it with the cheap shots directed at Clay Christians. He is a quality guy, a class act, and someone who has had more experience with higher education in Montana than anyone else we could have hired. I get tired of bringing in the "hot shots" from out of state who just want to move on. Clay is a top drawer guy. Watch the video of the Board of Regents meeting - I like and respect his demeanor.

I missed the Board of Regents comments on the rape allegations. Did/could anyone tape that section for replay? Were there any helpful comments.

since you know him so well then you must know it is Christian, not Christians ;)

Grizbacker - Thanks for the correction - Clay isn't a buddy but I have known him for 20 years. I just heard "Christian" on the web broadcast. My bad.
