GREELEY, Colo. -- Northern Colorado coach Craig Rasmuson resigned on Monday after compiling a 63-129 record in seven seasons and was named a full-time fundraiser for the school's athletic department.

"It's just the right time to make this move," Rasmuson, 36, said in a statement.

The resignation was first reported Monday in the Greeley Tribune.

Northern Colorado is completing the third year of a four-year move up from Division II to Division I. The Bears will play in the Big Sky Conference next season.

Northern Colorado finished the season 5-24 after a 75-61 loss to Utah Valley State on Saturday night.

"It is hard to step away after 12 season as a college head coach but I am ready to start my next career, which will be in athletic administration," he said.

Athletic Director Jay Hinrichs said one of Rasmuson's duties will be raising money to improve facilities.

"We know that Craig will be able to get donations quickly," he said.

Anyone want to venture a guess as to how much this guys would have made next year as a BSC head Men's coach?

$56,000

Cravens just got fired from Weber.

They're really going to struggle in the Big Sky next year. I don't know what they're looking at for recruits and coaching. I hope they are respectable next year and they don't make the Big Sky look bad.

I think it's too early to say how UNC will do in the Big Sky. They might be more competitive than their record would indicate. They played a MUCH tougher early schedule than any Big Sky team. I think they scheduled way over their heads, which hurt them. They were a young team this year; I think only one senior starter. Their two best players are only sophomores.

Obviously a lot will depend on the coach they get.

The two most notable names that have surfaced as possible candidates are Tad Boyle, 43, currently the associate head coach at Wichita (Kan.) State University, and Brooks Thompson, 35, an assistant coach at Arizona State University.

And how do you know that? Are you that arrogant? We had a very hard schedule this season playing Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado State, Oregon State. We had one senior and our two best players are Sophs.
We're upgrading our facilities by next season that will help get better recruits. Don't be so arrogant.

That isnt an arrogant statement, you guys lost alot of games this year and that would make one conclude that they would be terrible next year. 5-24 doesnt get you alot of respect especially when two of those wins arent Div-1 schools....

I disagree. You have no idea what we're going to be like next season. Especially with such a young squad like we had and the schedule we played.

at first when you were talking about your tough schedule i thought you were just pushing a crappy schedule out of proportion. but i gotta agree with you kansas (a personal favorite of mine), cal, and oregon state just to name a few. and most of those werent blowout losses. not putting down the griz but with this much talent for a team entering our conference next year we might have to watch our @$$es when it comes time to play northern colorado.

Are you serious? Your team has three wins this year (in my book) and you expect your team to be competitive next year? Just give it a year or two in basketball.

Again 3-24 doesnt get you much respect

I guess I just didn't know about your team. Well, then, I hope you guys do well next year, for that matter. If you have a young team, they should be better and play very competitively in the Big Sky.

I do need to clarify something. I don't think I'm an arrogant person. Thanks to all of the Griz fans who stuck up for me here.
