GREELEY, Colo. -- Northern Colorado coach Craig Rasmuson resigned on Monday after compiling a 63-129 record in seven seasons and was named a full-time fundraiser for the school's athletic department.
"It's just the right time to make this move," Rasmuson, 36, said in a statement.
The resignation was first reported Monday in the Greeley Tribune.
Northern Colorado is completing the third year of a four-year move up from Division II to Division I. The Bears will play in the Big Sky Conference next season.
Northern Colorado finished the season 5-24 after a 75-61 loss to Utah Valley State on Saturday night.
"It is hard to step away after 12 season as a college head coach but I am ready to start my next career, which will be in athletic administration," he said.
Athletic Director Jay Hinrichs said one of Rasmuson's duties will be raising money to improve facilities.
"We know that Craig will be able to get donations quickly," he said.
