North Dakota schools fear free tuition in Minnesota.

Minnesota students make up close to half the student body at North Dakota State in Fargo, their No. 1 out-of-state pick in their first year. They accounted for nearly 40% of the first-year students at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton in fall 2021.

“Probably half of our football team comes from Minnesota, so that’s kind of a big deal to us,” College of Science President Rod Flanigan said."

NDSU loses to the Minnesota Legislature on a trick play!

Minnesota is basically offering students the same deal that University of Montana does with the "Grizzly Promise." Idaho would probably be concerned if Moscow was across the Clark Fork from Missoula.

Georgraphy. Look at the map.The Red River of the North is the problem. One good flood year would change the problem, with a change in river bed, say a couple miles to the west. Both Grand Forks and Fargo would become part of Minnesota
Problem solved. Then, West Minnesota State University at Fargo could continue to rack up national titles, and Northwestern University of Minnesota at Grand Forks could continue its little brother roll. Its really all so simple.

Chilling thought, but, the University of Idaho is just down the street from Washington State. I don't hear the Wazzu faithful hyperventilating.

Isn't that kinda like wishing you were ugly!?

I lived in Idaho for many years. UI is generally thought of as a party school, kinda like Wazzu. Deserved or not, it's the perception.

Saw a great T-shirt at the U Dub Bookstore , long ago: Q: What's the difference between UW and WSU? A: About 290 miles, and 400 SAT points.

All in good humor.
