NIL era

Nah. It doesn't make a person a twit if they were under contract to get paid (in addition to scholarship) and were not and decided to go somewhere they could get paid. That sucks, but those are the rules of engagement these days.
Dude quit on his teammates in the middle of the season.

He could have played it out and then burned the place down...at season's end. He plays - continues to have a good season...then let's the world know UNLV doesn't fulfill their agreements when it's over.

Mid-season quitter...He's a disloyal twit and twat.

Yes but then he would have expired his eligibility and gotten nothing. Now he'll have a chance to go somewhere and actually get whatever they offer him.

I get people don't like the current landscape of players getting paid. But that ship has sailed. Players do get paid. So in this new world of players getting paid, why would a player allow a collective to promise him money and then not pay him what they promised? I know it's all crazy, but the current rules allow it.

A college athlete has a limited resource, his eligibility. If he waits, he may lose that earning potential. I know you hate it, but college athletics has changed. This has turned into an employment opportunity.

Fair. I don't agree but I can understand your position.

He decided to leave his first school and teammates as a grad transfer, to expeirence FBS and make some good NIL money for one year. He apparently didn't get the NIL money he was promised. After 3 games, he is going to stop playing, drop out of school I assume, and find another school for next year. I am fine with that. His situation is different than most. He has not great loyalty to UNLV or its players. His running numbers were good, and they got wins, but his passing numbers were weak.

I agree completely.

College football - for many - is a full time job. Imagine an employer wooing someone to join their company and then not pay them. He's a quitter, yes, but if this is true I don't totally blame the guy. He was mislead.

NIL bodies should be certified or a least regulated to avoid these situations. If this truly is what college football has become then at least there should be some level of compliance. The playing field will never be the same for all the schools but at least the athletes should have some recourse ...

Or he could not eat shit and get nothing and get out while he has the chance. The school is the one that didn't honor their commitment here.

But kids need to be smart. Get a contract, don't just do this verbal promises bullshit.

This guy is not going to be a professional athlete. If he was promised lets say $100k to come play for UNLV and that was not given to him then hell yeah I'm going to be "disloyal" That's a huge chunk of money for a person just leaving college to get a jumpstart on life. That's a down payment on a house. Would you be loyal to your job if they didn't pay out your salary? It's a bad look for everyone but he owes UNLV NOTHING in this situation and I would keep my redshirt too.

think of a future where a SEC offers NIL money to an opponents QB to sit out a game and use his redshirt so they don't have to play against him
This is the definition of "making up something to be mad about".

There's no way a kid would do that.

Not disputing any of it. Dude quit on his teammates.

That used to be universally bad. Now it is good?

Friggin crazy. Hate this new shit.

Because now it is about business and less about football. The employer apparently misled and failed to fulfil a contract agreed upon with its employee. Looks like UNLV quit on the player.

As told by one side, and there is 2 sides to every story. Interesting story to watch.
