Some of us did and we were right, though I expected them to win.

Griz caught them at the right time and played very well to boot.....player I was the most impressed with......Jack Lopez

Agreed

Ditto. Lopez was really impressive. I think Gfellar is going to find his stroke. He had it when it really counted down the stretch last year. He can get it again this year. He is getting the looks and just needs to hit a couple and I think it happens sooner rather than later. Just sucks to know that if he hits them like he did last year, we are probably looking at our only loss coming at NDSU.

Griz box out better at the free throw line with 1:00 to go on the Perkins miss and they win that game.

As a long ago Montana graduate and now a Spokane resident, I am amazed at the comments about the Griz being "homered", I thought the Zags got the short end of the calls from beginning to end. Your big man did nothing but shove Sabonis with his arm in his back time and again and was never whistled, should have fouled out 15 minutes before the end. Free throws were all that kept Griz in the game for much of the time. Gonzaga with their center missing has been playing poorly, changes their entire game flow. Will say good effort by the Griz, hope they do well in the Big Sky.

"Not to put too much pressure on Gfeller!" That's going to be my mantra this year. Maybe the coaches should shout it every time he shoots in practice - could help him loosen up a little. :)

It was another brilliant prediction by egriz' resident troll.

yep.....I was wrong....Griz played pretty well....Gonzaga did not look that great....Griz caught them at the right time....

see 75....some people are able to admit when they post something incorrect....should try it sometime....keep on trollin'.....

I agree multiple players looked good tonight but clearly Bruenig is the one guy you look at and say the other team probably wishes they had him. Our young guys may get there some day but this team goes where Bruenig takes it. With help from the rest of the team and if they play like tonight we should do well in the big sky. If we make tourney this game may help us as far as seeding goes. Maybe a 14 rather than a 15? Were we a 12 or 13 when we beat Nevada?

We were a 12 when we beat Nevada. Almost had a matchup against 13 seed Pacific in the 2nd round too but Pacific got hosed at the end of the game giving BC the victory. The Big Sky is more watered down now than it was then though unfortunately. It's going to be tough for a Big Sky team to get a 12 seed anymore (without some big upsets during non-conference) due to that and a few other factors. Still, a 13 or 14 isn't out of the question.

I think our young guys are going to surprise a lot of people come conference time. Yeah Oguine had a rough game today but...it was against a top 20 team and everyone has an off night every once in a while. He'll recover from it. And look at what he's done against the other teams this year. Very impressive for a true freshman. Same with Moorehead. The guy seems to have no fear out there and not play like a true freshman at all.

Facing teams like Gonzaga, Pepperdine, NDSU, Boise State, Washington, San Francisco, and of course Kansas is going to do wonders for this group. It's not going to feel too intimidating for our young players to go on the road at any of the Big Sky schools or against any of the Big Sky teams at home after having played against some top 20 teams, NCAA tournament teams, quality WCC teams and the team picked to finish first in the Mountain West.

I really like what we're doing with the scheduling and the type of team DeCuire is putting together. You look at other mid-major teams that have done well in the tournament over the years and you'll see our schedule this year has something in common with those teams. We played a lot of damn good teams. That'll pay off both during the conference season and in the tournament if we get there.

We also played in one of the more hostile environments out there. Playing @Gonzaga is never an easy task and the Griz damn near pulled off an upset down there. Very impressive.

It's not you, that's for sure. You got beat and you've been trying to lie your way out of it on thread after thread. You think the football team players are not very good, and the basketball team is going to get walloped. Your analytical skills are astounding. Not in a good way.

Actually I said the overall talent of the team wasn't great.....that is far from "the football team players are not very good"......and I did think the Griz would get beat big by Gonzaga....but the Zags are not playing very well right now and then not having Karnowski made a big difference....but I admit that I was impressed by a couple of the under the radar kids, Jack Lopez for sure....

I also knew you would never answer the "who do you think the Griz QB should have been this last season" question......we all know why.....

I think Oguine will be fine. I got the sense he wanted to shine against a big time program and was try to do too much. It will be interesting to see what happens to the minutes when Dunn comes back. Are all three versatile enough to play the 1 or 2 or will someone be sitting and see very limited minutes coming off the bench. Again I like Morehead in the little time I have seen him. He could be very limited in time. In any case we play like last night we may beat UW. I bet Bruenig would like to! I don't think he has hard feelings toward UW but it may solidify that he made the right decision for him.

yep....and the Zag guards had shown very little so far this season but they stepped up at the end....

So I'm a student who was lucky enough to attend this game due to a friend in the program..and I just want to say that I was really impressed by the Gonzaga fans. Many stopped and had great conversations with us and wished us luck as we continue towards our conference season, even after we nearly took them down in a game that I would imagine would have been terrifying for them to watch. Got to chat with coach and several players afterwards...tough loss but there is a lot to build on from this... I even ran into Nigel Williams-Goss after the game and got to chat with him and his dad. Really nice, genuine guys. Said we had a good team and that he told Martin to go get UW (as I'm sure most of you know they both played @ Washington).

Looking forward to UW and then us coming back home. I can tell you we are working on trying to make our student section larger and more passionate. I saw some things from their student section that I would like to see us implement...sadly most students just don't care as much as myself, my friends or any of you... I was somewhat surprised their student section was only about half full..though granted I know it's dead week for them also. But I mean if myself and friends can drive from Missoula to Spokane during dead week...well perhaps I should focus more on grades
Driving back was a bit dicey, didn't get back to my dorm until 3 AM. Totally worth it though. :thumb:
You can find me at every home game with a few guys just to the left (your right) of the basket in the student section near where the players come out of the tunnel. Now with the cardboard cutout heads of players and coach. Go Griz!

What you mean is that when I challenged your "superior" knowledge of who should be QB with questions as to why, and you stuttered like a bad piano, I then presented statistical reasons why your choice might be a bad one, and used Makena as an example. Statistically, your choice was problematic and I knew you couldn't defend it with any articulable defense, because you didn't know what you were talking about. As I specifically stated, "I'm not making a call here, and you could very well be right, but why can't you articulate your reasons why? I can articulate reasons why not. Where's your reasons?"

And, after 15 times of this answer:

It was obvious you were just another shoot from hip loudmouth. Then, after your humiliation, you tried to argue that I had "claimed" that Makena was a better QB, which was a specific lie. The fact was, you simply could offer no reasons, and were completely embarrassed at trying to offer broad platitudes that said nothing.

It was only an ironic counterpoint that everything that I pointed to that was specifically "wrong" about your choice turned out to be absolutely true on every single point in the NDSU game, a further humiliation to your pompous contention that "stats don't mean anything." The fact is, your garbage was as wrong as it could be and the NDSU game proved it.

The fact is, I could make "a case" and back it up with facts, whereas all you could do, and have been doing ever since, is try to shoot off your mouth with a specific lie about the whole thing.

Great game! Great effort by our team. This should boost their confidence. Nice to see Gfeller get a few big treys.
but he was 2 for 9 which is 22% from three. We need to find someone who can shoot from the perimeter more consistently.

I just meant it was nice to see him snap out of his admittedly long slump and hit those treys toward the end of the game.

Would you answer the question now.....who do you think should have started at QB for the Griz this past season?
