Most coaches will do what Travis does to show support for their players. However, it does not indicate the players are out of control. Well except for every time Jois drives the lane with his head down. :thumb: Amazing how under control he is most of the time, but at times, when he feel he has to score, he goes so much faster, and that head goes down, like HB trying to convert a TD from the goal line. :thumb:

Hmmm, These current career stats just cry “out of control player” Venky Jois has 1641 points, 931 rebounds, and 225 blocks. I can’t recall him ever fouling out of a game. Maybe the best descriptor is “he can’t be controlled” :thumb:

As long as all of us lesser Big Sky fan bases get to come back here to listen to Mountain West Conference fans berate the Griz in the same manner that you berate Big Sky teams then sure, why not?

The Griz should roll on Saturday. NAU is missing their starting point guard (Neeley) and power forward (Martin) for what looks to be the rest of the year. 12 freshmen on the roster. Yanku and Kaluna play hard but can't carry a whole team. This has to be the least experienced NAU roster I've ever seen. Won't know if this experience pays off for a year or two.

Regarding the unpleasantries from last year's Big Sky tourney in Missoula - Decuire and Murphy seemed to carry themselves in a cordial manner during the game earlier this season in Flagstaff. Replay video showed they shook hands when they walked off the court.

I also believe that egriz would have burned to the ground last March if it was an ineligible NAU player who ran on the court at the end of a conference playoff game, only to have no technical foul called and the Lumberjacks pull out a close but controversial win. But it didn't. And the Griz walked off the court with a hard fought, emotional win. And the sun came up the next day. And both teams moved on...as should both fan bases. ;)

I am not questioning his stats and he is a very good player. Just every time I see him play, there are a few times each game, he goes into the lane out of control with his head down. I am surprised officials have not called him more often for it. More power to him if he can continue getting away with it.

100% agree! I will say he gets his teammates fired up though-even if it is with trash talk!
 
There were some crazy numbers from that cat/nau game:

I believe NAU only had seven rebounds in the first half

Of the first 32 points scored by the cats, 30 of them were via 3 balls.

They hit 26 Threes for the game (2 off the NCAA record)

Nau shot 17% in the first half.

Three minutes into the second half, the score was 64-18. Ouch.

Control your players?? I remember a recent ewu player...something to do woth a gun....oh yea he murdered someone.
