If the Griz can't win this one comfortably, they're in some trouble...

Don't know about that. You are on the road at NAU who still remembers the tournament game when Edmonds maybe could have had a technical on him for running onto and sliding on the floor before the final buzzer and also the brew-ha-ha between Coach Murphy and Travis after the game was over. They will be fired up for sure. I'll take a 1 point victory and walk away happy. Anything more than that would be a bonus for me.

I'm a little surprised NAU hasn't done better. I think Yanku is one of the better guards in the conference, and I seem to recall they had a pretty good inside guy as well...can't remember his name. They will be tough on the road.

That good inside guy got injured.

Not mentioned much, since it happened early in the season (I can't confirm details of when), the Lumberjacks apparently lost senior, three-letter winner Jordyn Martin to injury, I believe for the remainder of the season. Martin was one of three Jacks with extensive experience who was expected to anchor the relatively young team this season (along with juniors Chris Yanku and Ako Kaluna). Martin is the sole senior on the squad.

As most Griz fans should know, losing a returning starter to injury can affect a young team.

Since I'm going by info I read earlier, any info that updates this more accurately (Montana Jack?) would be appreciated.

Well, this certainly doesn't appear to be your father's NAU team. Still, that's a tough place to play. It should be a road win, but I'm not counting my Jacks until they...what? Cracker maybe??

Jordyn Martin, NAU's best rebounder and reigning BSC defensive player of year, is out for the year with a foot injury. Starting point guard, Jelani Neeley, is out for a few games. 11 freshmen have received pretty significant playing time. Some of them show signs of being ready. Some don't. It's been a rough start. This is not the same Lumberjacks team from last season.

I haven't listened to all of their games on the internet/radio but I've caught 4-5 of them. From what I've heard, the team's playing hard but only having three players with previous experience (Kaluna, Neeley and Yanku) has led to a whole lot of team growing pains. A tough non-conference schedule has not been kind, either.

I think they'll win a few conference games but I'll truly be surprised if the Jacks compete anywhere towards the top of the conference this season. I sat through the 55 point McKale Center loss @ U of Arizona a week or so ago and questioned my fan status and sanity on multiple occasions. Then I remembered how fun the CBI Tournament run was last season and needed a reminder that with the good comes the bad. I hope the ample playing time for freshmen pays off in 2-3 years.

In the meantime....I predict an easy Griz win next week. Hoping to drive up for this one but we'll see if that comes to fruition.

Good luck, Griz fans.

Good attitude. Despite the coaching clash last year, I have enjoyed your coach and think he will get your team into shape sooner than you think. Your team will finish in the top half of the conference, especially with Yanku playing.

#GrizHoops, in their grey unis, will start Wright/Oguine/Gfeller/Lopez/Breunig. That's a first this season

I am not able to watch on tv but am following live stats. How does Breunig have only 4 attempts in the first half?

NAU is packing it in defensively....double and sometime triple teaming him....

This team has some periods where they turn it over like they get paid to do so. With 5 TOs in the first 8 mins and shooting 36% they are very fortunate to be tied at half.

And yes, nau is doubling MB, but the Griz have to find a way to free him up. We can't win if he shoots it 4 times a half
