Yes, Texas is $ loaded, but I don't think FBS position coaches are the right bucket to look in...

A Guy like Mack Leftwich, Texas State Offensive Coordinator makes a lot of sense. Was the QB coach at Incarnate Word for 4 seasons, then the OC there last season (had the #1 D-1 offense), and now the OC at Texas State. This season they are averaging 273 yard a game through the air and 212 on the ground, as well as 42 points per game. He's young (28) and played high school Quarterback in Texas and Pennsylvania (Penn player of the year as a senior). Played college QB at UTEP and started several games for them until an injury ultimately forced him to medically retire. Worth mentioning too that his dad, Spencer, has been a college coach for over 25 years and is currently the assistant head coach/O-line coach at UTEP. Would be great to have inroads in Texas. His salary at Texas State, although I can't seem to locate in on a quick search, is likely small enough that an FCS head coaching job would be pretty enticing (head coach only makes 800K). He has also played recently enough that he understands the state of the game and recruiting from the perspective of a player better that most old farts are going to.

It would land on deaf ears. Guys is a joke of an AD, and should have never gotten the job in the first place. Another example of the in-house good ole boys hire. If Bobby goes, I think Haslam should go right along with him. Can't recall a good thing he has done since he's been AD.

Leftwich is someone who would resonate more with Bodnar, a young guy himself who had an impressive resume coming into Montana. There would be mutual respect there.

In any case, I think if there is going to be a change made, there needs to be a national search done by an outside search firm so you don't have the usual bunch of old fart boosters meddling in something they aren't remotely qualified to meddle in. That's how we got into this mess in the first place. Just because you write big checks doesn't mean you know who is going to be a successful football coach, and surely should not get you a vote on who the coach should be.
