New Team for the Griz

Music Man

New member
Hello People, I am new to this forum but I just checked ESPN Bracketology and our new oppent is North Carolina Tarheels in Greensboro.....Shouldnt havebought my plane tickets

Don't worry music man it changes by the day. I doubt that when the field is announced on Sunday that Griz will be playing UNC. Although beating them would be more fun than beating Gonzaga!

My sources have the griz playing Monmouth in the first round at the Toledo region.

From what I have seen, the Grizzlies are most likely to play Manchester United in the 1st round in the Prague region, but not until sale of the Portland Trailblazers has been completed and the team has been moved to Vancouver... UNLESS, of course, the Blazers take the option of forfeiting all claims to colonial ownership of South African port cities, and donate the proceeds to avian flu research, in which case all bets are off, the tournament is cancelled, and martial law is instituted in regions of the country with a greater than 40% obesity.

In other words, we can speculate all we want, but there is no telling until Sunday. For all we know, the selection committee could just really, really like the Griz, and we get a 12 seed. Far fetched, but not impossible.

Different sites have us placed anywhere from 13 to 15...

RealtimeRPI.com has us at #13 playing #4 Pitt in Auburn Hills (They also have us spelled "Mantana")...
ESPN.com has us as a #14 playing #3 North Carolina in Greensboro (as was posted by the original poster)
Collegehoopsnet.com (bracketography.com) has us as a #15 (& getting screwed) playing #2 Mephis in Detroit
Gregg Doyle of cbs.sportsline.com has us as a #14
The bracket on sportsline.com has us as a #15 playing Ohio State in the Minneapolis bracket.

I couldn't find a bracket on collegeinsider.com, but did find this:
" Mark from Tacoma, WA believes that I have overlooked Montana in a big way. Well Mark I didn’t include the Grizzlies in my last column because they hadn’t yet knocked off Northern Arizona.

Larry Krystkowiak has done a terrific job in his first two seasons. I just hope he hasn’t set the bar too high. People in Missoula are going to expect to be dancing every year. Kevin Criswell didn’t have a great game, in the win over NAU. That fact should make Montana fans feel even more confident about their chances at pulling the upset.

One thing very impressive about Montana is the way that they move the basketball. They are a very unselfish team. Good ball movement leads to open looks. How they fair will be dependent on their draw. "

Anyway...lots of different opinions :) I don't see the Griz getting a 15.....their RPI is higher than a lot of the teams that they have at 14 and 13s in the scenarios where the Griz are a 15... I think 14 is more realistic..but 13 is definitely a possibility... Anyway...we'll find out for sure on Sunday :)
