New commit 2020 Kirk Rygol QB transfer

Does kind of remind me of that Sneed guy

Rygol was on ABC/FOX/SWX tonight, he compared himself to Sneed and being a dual threat. Seems intense, and mentioned (many times) he's here to compete, and win.

Rygol looks terrific in his tapes. Duel threat. Very strong arm. Mobile. Athletic. When he moves from the pocket, he often keeps looking downfield for a throw. Can throw off balance or from wrong foot. I think this is good for him, but not good for some qb's.

He looks alot like Sneed. Definitely better than Dickenson and Ochs. The big question is whether he is better than Humphrey.
Haha I see what you did there. I’m don’t see this kid, or any of our transfers as difference makers. Transfers are not going to save us Griz fans. Talking about JD Quinn, and Bryce Sterk, and Craig Ochs, is NONSENSE. Walk-on kids from FBS schools will not safe us from North Dakota State.

To compare this kid, who was a second string quaterback walk-on at a bad South Florida team to oches and dickenson speaks volumes about anybody who draws that comparison.

Pretty sure PR was kidding.

Ummmmm you seriously didn’t pick up on PRs sarcasm there? Wow.

Well the way some current or incoming players are annointed as the next big thing around here, it's tough to tell when others are joking or not.🙃

That kid does have some nice tapes. Did you see his leap up onto the platform in one of the video's? Was that formerly injured transfer quarterback at spring ball? How did he look?

Has the NCAA said anything about allowing teams to "make up" for lost spring ball, like starting fall practice earlier or letting coaches come to player run practices? I have not been following any of that.

I shouldn’t have gone that hard in this thread. I just get annoyed when people think walk-ons from bigger schools will be huge contributors. I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see it.

He is NOT a Walk-On. The Griz Staff feel he is worthy of a Full Ride, and according to the Missoulian, that is his status.

I think he meant that Rygol was a walk-on at USF.

Rygol is a stud. Going to take the Griz far.

Rygol was an ALL STATE QB as a SOPHOMORE in competitive Virginia. Was being contacted by FCS powerhouse JMU.

Rygol broke his collarbone in his very first game as a Junior, making him miss a repeat All State performance possibility.

He transferred to the state of South Carolina for his Senior season, and had his best season yet, and against legit talent!

He threw for over 3,000 yards with 36 touchdowns while running for over 500 yards and five scores.

This kid would have easily been class AA 3 times All State in Montana.

He brings severe competition to the Montana QB room. Which makes them all work harder to try and play.

Whoever starts starts out of them will have earned it, and who wins out of that? GRIZFANS DO.

All very good points. I am cheering for Cam just because of the way he handled himself as a backup and proved he could play when given a chance. But this kid seems legit. Everything I have watched and read about Patterson makes me think he could make a push also. Then add the two young and talented in state QBs and you are right this makes for a real competitive group looking to see the field.

Not to mention this kid not only walked on to An FBS program and made it but threw in multiple games and many wanted him to start a few as well. If you compare him to sneed out of UNLV they arent all that different. Obviously the kid loves football to be that dedicated to not give it up. Those are the types of players that make a program better. Players that want to play and want to love the game. This guy does that and will make the QB room better. Starter or not

When he walked on to USF, he was the 6th string QB. He worked his way to #2 and was first in off the bench. I’m not sure what he brings and I’ll be cautiously optimistic, but that alone is a hell of a feat.

He was a walk-on at Non-Power 5 USF. That is not the same caliber of transfer as a Craig Ochs, JD Quinn, Eric Allen etc...

During his first tenure, I believe Hauck was on record as stating he preferred one QB recruit per class. Five QBs doesn't seem excessive, considering the possibility of injuries, and development of future talent.

And Russum, Horn and Drew Miller. I do think the kid looks talented, tho. If you assume he improved along the way, his story makes sense. Not sure why his great numbers in high school would only get him to D-II. What did he do there? Has anyone seen his senior year interceptions?
