Seems like an odd fit. South Carolina roots, starts at D2, then Juco and finally D1 at UCF. Now a Griz and looks like a complete unknown. Cited financial reasons for entering the portal (fair enough) and I have to wonder how much of a scholly he is getting. Griz seem to have some talent at QB this coming year and plenty of competition. Strange

It's baffling that you're confused by this. He's only unknown if you haven't done even a minute of research.
This is a well regarded, very talented QB that we're bringing in to compete for the starting job. Cited financial reasons because he walked on to SF, where he earned playing time as the back up and now wants a D1 scholarship. He got one from us.
Lol he’s an undersized walk-on kid. Hilarious how you guys think any of these guys are competing to be starters. I was going to make a joke and say he looks like the next Craig Ochs. Then someone made the comparison to Dave Dickenson. You guys really need to pump the brakes on walk-on kids at big schools who transfer.

And don’t mention Colt Anderson and Marc Mariani. Those are special guys and walk-ons from Montana are not the same thing as journeymen D2/JUCO/Low level FBS walk-on who now comes to Montana.

I am not baffled, not confused. Asked a legit question and his stats at USF are unimpressive. (Looks like he had minimal reps). How many great Juco and high school QB’s are well regarded and never amount to a hill of beans? There are 4 QB’s on the roster currently. Hope he works out and has a great career as a Griz. Now take a chill pill or a walk. Coronavirus quarantine not treating you well? Damn girl.

Gonna need you to slow down, take a deep breath and re read my message... K now point out where I was in any way excited by your slightly moronic post. You clearly are confused since you don't understand why he's been offered. No one said he's a guaranteed all big sky player, so I have to assume you've had a mild stroke with that little rant. Just do a little research and you'll see why everyone, including our staff, is high on him. Now take a minute to realize that no one here cares enough about my or your opinion to get worked up about it, Sally.

Lol what the fuck are you even talking about? You quoted me and then nothing you said even remotely applies to anything I said. I said we brought him in to compete for the starting job. Which is what we did. That's a fact. I recommend asking the coaches about that if you need confirmation. I made no projections about him winning the job, only that he's a talented kid. He had a great high school career, has a nice arm and is athletic, that's about all we know. I haven't a clue how he'll perform when we arrives. Points if you don't respond to this with more completely random and unrelated players or projections.

So excited to see Kirk as a Griz! I coached his youngest brother a few years back when they lived in Virginia. Kirk is a very competitive young man and will rise to the occasion IMHO. He was absolutely amazing to watch, even as a freshman varsity starter. Hated to see them move away. Welcome to Griz nation Kirk! Tell Clayton that Coach Bieber says Hi.

His HS O line could not get him a safe pocket and he seems to be scrambling all the time. Give him credit for keeping things alive. I look forward to seeing him in a GRIZ uniform and watching him develop. I would take his receiver (#2) any day. Hope HE got a college scholarship.

Looking at his tape, I like his ball placement. It was rare that one of his receivers had to let up to catch the ball. Definitely a gun slinger, but it looks like a smart one. Having good QBs on the roster is great insurance, just like Cam was last year.

U of South Florida Bulls 2020 pre spring Stampede write-up:

Kirk Rygol returns after seeing playing time in several games throughout the 2019 season. Rygol displayed the ability to throw the ball 1000 mph regardless of his distance from the intended receiver. He played well in his limited opportunities and moved the offense.

He looks good. Very athletic. I can understand why a kid would want to throw to the receiving crew the Griz have coming back next year. That had to weigh into his decision. It should be an interesting QB competition.

Rygol looks terrific in his tapes. Duel threat. Very strong arm. Mobile. Athletic. When he moves from the pocket, he often keeps looking downfield for a throw. Can throw off balance or from wrong foot. I think this is good for him, but not good for some qb's.

He looks alot like Sneed. Definitely better than Dickenson and Ochs. The big question is whether he is better than Humphrey.
