The great teams find a way to win on their off days

Unless something really goes south the bison will cruise into playoffs with top seed

I love it how people on here are saying we are beatable. We won the game if you didn't notice. We gave them 2 fumbles, they only got 6 pts from them. We have depth, we wore them down in the 4th. #4 team in the country, and we beat them. Our offense might not be the best, but it's pretty much the same as we have always had, you know, like when we won the championship the last 2 years.

Really? As far as I can tell, just about everybody on this site has been kissing Bison ass for two years.

FUCK THE BISON

The Bison will give teams chance to upset them this year. They did it in SDSU and NIU games. They had a lot of penalties and mistakes in both games. Every in Fargo does not believe they are unbeatable, local sportswriter Kolpack picked them to lose by 3 I believe. But there is no doubt they are a good team. And as some posters on here claim...they are not overrated. They have a stifling defense and there offense isn't out of this world great, but they are good. Brock Jensen is a good quarterback who doesn't let anything fluster him. The Bison are good. Good teams find a way to win even when they have a an off day. That is what separates them. I would love to a playoff game between them and the Griz. I would drive to Fargo to see that game.

Good analogy, anyone is beatable on a given day, remember both NDSU and Alabama lost a game in each of their last two championship seasons, it does happen.

But even if they do drop a game somewhere I still consider them the favorite to win it again, that shutdown defense can overcome mistakes, and their offense, while not dynamic by any means, can put up the 20 points they need to beat teams.

Sitting at the game, and after was the first time I ever heard a bison fan say the call was wrong when it was in there favor. Talking about the pass interference in the end zone. Horrific.

dJohnson had hp flexor problems and couldn't finish the game. It took total control in the third, to bad he got hurt.

The offense that will give the bison fits will be Towson. Bison have an issue, there offense isn't the best. I know they have a phenomenal defense, but they need to score more come playoff time. Their best play, the QB draw wins the game for them. BJ runs it well, and that is the only way the offense stats on the field. You know it is coming, but teams do nothing about it. Watch the game again and you will see what I mean.

Couldn't see the hands to the face penalty in the last drive that kept them from punting on the last drive. It was directly in front of me but I was watching the pass. Nobody around us knew what the flag was for.

Alpha I had 4 tickets and you almost got to use one.

Great game, exciting as hell, and loud. We did have a bunch of unsportsmanlike like fans around us. They complain an whine on every call. The guy directly behind had his wife tell him to shut up and quit being an asshole or he can go sit in the car, that was late in third. Never heard a peep out of him after that.

Final words, being at the game I would say UNI gift wrapped the win and gave it to them. It should have been a 17 point win for UNI.

Wow the UN_ butthurt and Jealously is strong in you isn't it? Gift wrapped? NDSU by way of two turnovers and a missed pick six gift wrapped that game and yet UNI still couldn't do anything about it. We have two starting offensive lineman out. D-Line was banged up and had one guy in basically playing on one leg and we still won the game. As far as the PI call ti was the correct call. What you are blathering on about was after the ref started pulling the flag out of his pocket. Wouldn't have mattered had the UNI defender intercepted the pass it was still the correct call. I can see why you go to NDSU games given the team with no name has nothing but a one point win to crow about over the cellar dwellar of the BSC but man get a grip. Gift wrapped

Well of course you had a bunch of unsportsmanlike fans around you......Us Bison fans are all a bunch of thugs ya know! I myself beat up five UNI fans in the parking lot before the game and then I keyed thier cars! The jealousy or butthurt as someone above called it, is peppered throughout your entire post. Why the hell are you even going to a Bison game? Makes me a little sick knowing that people like you are taking up perfectly good seats in our dome, when it could be filled with "A REAL FAN"

Robsnotes4u,

Hang in their man, you seem to have very good comments about a game I would not have wasted my time or money on.

The response by THE HERD is exactly what I talk about with their fan base. They are so wrapped up in a small time outfit in the FM metro.

I know the following did not happen, but when i think of Jerry Kill at the University of Minnesota and his health problems. If they were playing Minnesota their fans would taunt Kill's wife with things like "Watch him die bitch" when she would go down to the sidelines if he had a seizures during a game.

The words of THE HERD fit in exactly with the mindset of this fan base. This is the mentality of what you are dealing with.

We need to remember we are Montana conduct ourselves accordingly.

Although I am not a fan of the Bison I respect how they play the game, they are king until some team dethrones them. I am hoping it happens in the playoffs this season, it will take a team bringing their A game and playing the game of their lives.

Maybe Northern Iowa will get another shot in the playoffs, or a team like EWU or the Griz, if they get their crap together, could be the team to beat them. If that happens Bison fans and that one Griz guy will say the Bison beat themselves. I don't buy that if/when it happens though.

The Bison will lose, it is just a matter of when and by who, it may not be until next season after they lose a lot of talent in their senior class, but they will be beaten someday...I for one hope sooner than later. Better yet let them run out the regular season and lose anytime in the playoffs. ;)

Also, I seen part of the game and that Northern Iowa players leg snapping was Mariani like. I hope that kid recovers but his season is definitely over, hopefully not his career. Anyone have any updates on how he is doing?

Sounds like surgery went as well as possible. 8 weeks on crutches, then he can start running/rehabbing. Here is a video of his dad talking about it.

f*** THE BISON

For you egriz NDSU-haters out there, here’s a history lesson for you, especially you youngsters. You NDSU guys can gain a little perspective here, too. Both UM and NDSU have MSU to thank for at least some of their football success.

In 1987, in their infinite wisdom, MSU hired Earle Solomonson from NDSU. (That was a Doug Fullerton hire, for those of you keeping score at home.) As described below, Solomonson not only ran that program straight into the ground in the 5 years he was at MSU, he buried it. It took them another 15+ years to recover and some MSU fans would say they still have not overcome all of the damage he did to in-state recruiting with his “you can’t win in the Big Sky Conference with Montana kids” approach.

As a result, UM has NDSU to thank for at least some of its football success since 1987. NDSU gave Solomonson to MSU, thereby royally screwing MSU’s football program for the next 20 years, especially within the state of Montana. Who knows how an even remotely successful MSU program during that time period would have impacted UM’s success during that time, and since then? A big assist for the MSU football disaster during that time goes to Fullerton, who was rewarded by the rest of the Big Sky Conference for his incompetence at MSU by being hired as the BSC Commissioner, a position he still holds for some reason. That in and of itself should tell you all you need to know about the BSC, then and now.

So, Griz Nation, as we approach the holiday season (the Christmas stuff is already on the shelves in stores, a sign of how desperate they are - but I digress), give thanks to NDSU for bequeathing Solomonson to MSU and Fullerton, thereby assisting the UM run to glory on the football field. At the very least, it didn’t hurt. And for all you Bison fans still complaining about MSU backing out of the game this year, stop it. MSU did you the biggest favor in NDSU football history by taking Solomonson off your hands when they did and screwing themselves in the process. Yes, I know he won 2 national titles at NDSU – with Morton’s players and program, not his. Solomonson was in the right place at the right time as the head coach at NDSU, as he proved at MSU. There’s a reason he never coached another football game after the MSU debacle. If Solomonson had stayed at NDSU, ESPN would never have discovered Fargo and you guys would still be playing DII football in a sugar beet field.

“The list: Top 10 ‘disasters’ at UM and MSU”
April 16, 2012 3:27 pm By Greg Rachac Billings Gazette
http://billingsgazette.com/sports/college/blogs/catgrizinsider/the-list-top-disasters-at-um-and-msu/article_34039332-880b-11e1-b610-001a4bcf887a.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

“3. EARLE THE PEARL: Hiring Earle Solomonson as the football coach at MSU seemed like a great idea in 1987. Solomonson was, after all, coming off back-to-back Division II national championships at North Dakota State the two seasons prior. He was called on to revive the Bobcats’ program, which had won the I-AA title just three years earlier. But Solomonson’s tenure with the Bobcats was an abject failure. It was a forgettable mistake, much like MSU’s decision to part ways with coach Sonny Lubick in 1981. In five seasons at the helm, Solomonson had a 15-44 record and the Cats never won more than four games. He was ousted after a 2-9 disaster in 1991, leaving Cliff Hysell with a mess he never could quite clean up.”

----------------------------------------
(Actually, Solomonson’s record at MSU was 15-40 so it was not quite as bad as Rachac claimed. That said, 15-40 or 15-44, what difference does it make once it’s that bad?)
