NDSU will be better in 2018

Wow, you must be really old. There will be another team "like" UNDSU (maybe even in your lifetime, if you stop smoking two packs of unfiltered camels, swilling a fifth of Beam, and whacking down a sixer of PBR silos every night). It will be the newly reinvented Montana Grizzlies.

People will catch them. You don't have to be a history buff to see that it's all cyclical. And the cycle is currently favoring UM. The pendulum is swinging, and it's gaining speed.

You should probably curtail your weed smoking, youngster. There has never been, nor will there likely ever be, another run, at any level, matching what NDSU has accomplished. It is totally unprecedented. There is nothing even to compare it to. They had one of the top recruiting classes again this year. If UM can beat them again in the next 5-10 years, I can die a happy man.

Why? Neither of the three teams came even remotely close to winning 5 in a row.

It is unprecedented. Hasn’t been done before in any level of collegiate football, unless you want to count Yale in the 1800’s

Not even remotely close to Thunder Buff levels. Not very noteworthy. In their little fucked up corner of the world, it's basically:

1. T-Buff FCS Championships
2. Moon landing
3. T-Buff DIII Championships
4. Elastic
5. Invention of the printing press

...

105. Celtics 8-peat

...

2,501. Diet Coke

Rounding out the top 10 Nodak "best things ever" list:

6. Statins
7. The drive-thru
8. The modern mechanized tractor
9. Indoor laser lights
10. Invention of the Hoverround

And what’s funny is whenever I tell somebody down here that my favorite team is Montana, they’re always like “Aren’t you guys the team that’s won the last couple championships?” Then sadly I have to say, “No, that’s North Dakota.” Imagine how clueless all these folks are to not recognize the greatest dynasty in the history of sports.

NDSU is going no where.

With what is coming back and the addition of injured starters coming back, NDSU will make another run at the NC again.

Next year will have a huge senior class but the last two recruiting classes and the one coming in are very good. Like it or hate it, NDSU will be at the top of the FCS for many years.

trust me when I say it's not a sure thing they win it next year, but they are coming off this years championship and return 14 starters plus a preseason all American in Greg Menard who was lost before the season began. I don't get where you say the cycle is swinging toward the grizzlies that's all. They may very well not win it, lot of things could happen , but the should be amongst the favorites.

If JMU’s receivers didn’t drop 35 balls in that game, NDSU wouldn’t have won it this year.
I totally agree, ndsu could have lost that game, but there is a big difference between James Madison and montana. I don't get where the cycle is pointing towards a montana team that didn't make the playoffs, not talking smack as I've always said the fcs is better when Montana is near the top and hope you get back sooner than later.

Look I was saying it's swinging. Not that we win it all next year. Just that we are now on the upswing. Might be a couple years. Nowhere did I indicate I thought we were about to win it all. Sheesh

I think you are wrong. There will never be another FCS program that will match what NDSU has done over the past few years and have a similar run. To do so you would have to do the following....

-win 6 national championships in 7 years
-win 5 national championships in a row
-go on a 33 game winning streak
-win 97 games in 7 years
-Beat 5 FBS teams, 4 of which were P5 schools and one of which was ranked in the top 15
-spend 30 consecutive weeks of polling ranked #1
-come very close to cracking AP top 25 poll
-rattle off 22 consecutive playoff victories
-rattle off 22 consecutive road victories
-get a player drafted #2 or higher in the NFL draft

Sorry but runs like this are not cyclical because a run like this hasn’t happened before.

Good gawd people. Success IS cyclical. Pretty funny that in your arrogance you can't even see or admit that. So I guess you believe you'll be on top forever. Get over yourself, it's annoying as hell. Or better yet, go post somewhere else.

I wouldn't worry about competing with dominant programs like NDSU or JMU, especially with the fact the gap may only grow with the disparities in FCOA. No, our concern right now is becoming relevant. Baby steps.

When you win that 10th championship in 2022 is there any remaining glory in dominating the hapless also-rans of college football?

+1. Let’s inckude the rest of the university in that as well.

FCS Football...ho hum.

What really excites NoDaks is the introduction of Golden Corral’s “buffet to table” drone delivery innovation.

Or just head over to the other thread and read up on the Mondak bowl, which is kinda ironic

Yes I know success is cyclical. There will be another team that becomes kings of the FCS. No doubt it will happen because it always does.

What I’m saying is that a run specifically like this in the FCS is not cyclical. To be cyclical, you have to point back to other programs who had the same type of run. You have had a lot of FCS programs win back to back titles, etc., but nobody has come remotely close to winning 5 in a row and 6 out of 7 years.

It just doesn’t happen and likely won’t again in the future.
